I don’t think it has been any huge secret regarding who or what group of guys did it. The guy they arrested has said multiple times publicly (Including in his book) that he was in the car and gave the other dude the gun. I’m not sure why they decided to finally prosecute someone.

In the article it says they opened the investigation because of his comments. Then they raided his home a couple months ago.

It was released on a Friday with a lot going on for a reason.....sorry, but Tupac is last decade's issue or concern...this announcement gives a few people some cover, and provides a sense of accountability for the few people who still care. Tupac and Biggie had their moment, but they are approaching the same relevance as the Geritol $64,000 Question game show.
