Tre King (Georgetown transfer)

Whether he plays this year (I think unlikely), his participation in practice (assuming he is as good as advertised) will push Enaruna, Kunc and Conditt to an even higher level. That alone will be valuable.
Absolutely agree. We do not have a normal sized roster this year as everyone knows. With injury or illness, you’re potentially looking at being short handed. So absolutely right about pushing these other players, but benefit may be more basic than that at some point.

I personally would like to see him get to play this year. The current team is playing their butts off, diving for loose balls, harassing the heck out of ball handlers, etc. Someone is going to get hurt eventually, and another body will be needed.

This team could have an amazing season, but everyone needs to remember that most of these guys are seniors, so TJ will be pretty much starting over next year, unless some come back for a covid year. I have no clue where that stands. Having a guy like King playing this year could actually pay some benefits next year.

Not to mention the opportunity to learn within TJ's system for most of the year before hitting the court. That's invaluable.

Don't think you can play at two schools in the same basketball season so his enrollment at Georgetown for semester one, however short, likely ends any chance. That said, if it is possible you let him play. I don't see too many guys staying in college 6 years so there's a very good chance he only plays through the end of next season in college anyway.

I just hope he likes his time in Ames and ISU for now. Odd situation and he might have to just wait his turn.

As others have said if he can practice with the team, that will help a lot and he can get ready for next year.

I gotta think he'll get a waiver for next year/Fall (full year). I'd take him winter semester (this year) in a heartbeat though, if it could be done. Let Coach figure out the specifics.

Random poster on CF speculating probably. I think that's how most bad rumors start on here. Someone posts something like "Any chance King could get a waiver and play right away". Then the next poster says "I heard we might be applying for a waiver so King can play this year". Then the next guy says "I heard King might play right away". Message board version of the children's game "telephone".

A simple Google search reveals multiple articles written on the subject. WRNL, DSM register, Iowa state daily all discuss the topic. And right here in his interview with CF - https://cyclonefanatic.com/2021/12/qa-new-iowa-state-transfer-commit-tre-king/
