My guesses:
1) The NCAA takes a while with waivers anyway, so if Iowa State applies for one for the spring now, who knows when he'd actually be able to play.
2) Since this is his second transfer he's supposed to sit out a year. A waiver for next fall would be him sitting out for a year from playing, just not all at Iowa State. I'd think that the NCAA would be more lenient on giving a waiver for next fall because of that, at least compared to this spring.

Scotty says 6-8, so now we've seen 6-7, 6-8 and 6-9. Doesn't really matter as long as he gives us some front court depth and skill and fits in culture wise, but I still find it kind of funny how height it basically a range.
If the NCAA announces a waiver is granted late but not too late, like near the end of January or something, would be interesting to see if ISU and King decide to play now and burn a full year on only a month of games, or save it so that he could play both 22-23 and 23-24.
Most of stories today from media sources (that I've seen so far) have him at 6-9, 225. Grain of salt, I guess.
That's what I thought too. Dude is gonna be a shooting guard by the time he gets here.
I would have said "save it" before this season.
Now the team might be competing for some real accomplishments come February.
Going to be a tough decision. Might come down to how close they are to the NCAA bubble and how well Conditt, Kunc, and Jones seem to be playing to hold down the 4-5 spots.
Yes. He has played three seasons but last year doesn’t count. He is essentially a true junior right now. If we get him a waiver and he plays, he’d be a true senior in 22-23. Or we could sit him, in which case he’d be a redshirt junior in 22-23 and would have one more year after that available.

I feel like trying to get eligible this year is a waste. It'll likely be a month before he is up to speed, with the holidays, could be longer than that. Just doesn't seem worth it to upgrade the 9th guy in the rotation. Best case would be something that let him play two full years.
At this point, I think we can assume that this staff can teach him to play defense if he can't already.
For Thanksgiving, we went to my wife's cousin's house. Her daughter brought her boyfriend that plays football for the U of MN. He's listed at 6'4", 225 lbs. He's 6'1" and I'd be surprised if he weighed over 190 lbs.
