Trae Young

He's not the same player he was early this season. That player was fun to watch and could score while still making his teammates better. I'm sure some of it is teams getting film on him and scouting his weaknesses, but it seems his mindset has changed as well. He's pissy with the refs, involving his teammates less, and seems only concerned about getting his. The guy I watched early in the season was fun to watch, really good, and made OU an excellent team. The guy I'm watching now is easy to dislike and makes OU less than the sum of it's parts.

It's a lot for a freshman to handle. ESPN had a ticker on his stats for Saturday, for crying out loud. He may not have been thinking one and done at the beginning of the year, but undoubtedly everyone is in his ear about that now. He may be playing for draft position and thinking he needs to put up amazing numbers. That and better scouting and more defensive focus have probably combined to make him less effective.

I agree the attention he's getting is over the top and that's not helping him. That ticker is ridiculous.

5.3 turnovers per game

Yes, meant to say recently to that. He's averaging 7.6 per game in big 12 play, which is terrible. I know his usage is insanely high, but that is on him too, since he either has the ball dribbling around, or finally passes when he can't shoot it.

This may not be popular, but I just don't like players like him. He's clearly good, but the best ones make those around them better. From what I see, they have gotten worse, not better, and that is the Trae Young effect.

To put some context on that...

https://www.wired.com/2011/03/space-jam-box-scores/

...that was higher than Michael Jordan during the game in Space Jam.

• Jordan’s usage rate is 44 percent, meaning he used 44 percent of his team's possessions. For comparison's sake, the NBA single-season record is Kobe's 39 percent in 2006. Jordan is second at 38 percent. He did have plenty of games where he actually exceeded that 44 percent usage rate. In Game 6 of the 1998 Finals, for instance, he checked in at 55 percent. This is probably the second-most realistic part of the movie.

So Young had a usage rate about that of Jordan against Stockton and Malone in that epic Game 6 (complete with the push-off on the Jazz) before he retired again.

He had 48 points and an offensive rating of 124...? Yeesh.

Melvin when he had 48 on TCU...

The #chuckin was invented for Trae Young.

"You're dumb." Way to support your argument. It doesnt bother me that you think so since critical reading and thought don't seem to be your strength. Others here see it as well; go argue with them.

If I was an ISU fan, you wouldnt be trying to justify 39 fga, many forced from 30+ feet and massive amounts of turnovers.

Graham 4/19 shooting. I wonder if his teammate's hate playing with him

He was back to his early season form tonight. Forced a couple passes early but took care of the ball the rest of the game and took things in the flow of the offense

I watched a bit of the KU vs. OU game tonight and if Young continues to play like that (in control, constantly looking for his teammates [almost too unselfish], great decision-making) that OU team will continue to be really tough to beat.

Sidenote: I think I've only clicked on 3 threads today. 2 of the 3 threads involved petty pissing matches between CyTwins and opposing fans. Opening up a CF thread and you never know what you'll have to read.
