I'd be ok with it if the defensive team got any ball that is fumbled out of bounds as it would reward the defense for forcing the fumble. I just don't like the inconsistency between the field of play and the end zone.
It was 3rd down when 2nd fumble occurre. If it was 4th down and he fumbles and ball is in endOne and he or a tx player recovers then it is Isu ball, yes that's right Isu ball. Rule is on 4th down if player A fumbles and ball crosses goal line, which it did, and team A recovers then opposing team B gets ball on touchback, weird rule but only applies to 4th down.
What if it's 4th and 1 from the two and the player fumbles after getting the first down but before crossing the goal line and the ball is recovered by the player's team in the end zone?
But I think you're missing the point as it applies to the Tennessee game. It wasn't 4th down, the player fumbled before crossing the goal line and the ball went through the end zone. So, it is given to the defense. I don't get why. That is a dumb rule.
Agree to agree. There is no skill which overcame luck in the scenario you describe. If someone recovers at the least you can say they took the ball, and their hands grasped it, and recovered it. OOB is a crapshoot.
