With the passing of Peter Graves, we were all talking about the Top 5 coolest TV theme songs.

My top three are The Mission: Impossible theme song, the theme song from Peter Gunn (the No. 1 coolest theme song IMO) and the Hawaii Five-O theme song.

I always liked the Perry Mason theme song (I am an old time TV watcher), but I can't decide what my No. 5 choice would be.

If you're an old-timer, why not Gilligan's Island?

I like Big Bang Theory's, fits the show perfectly.

Gilligan's Island theme song cool? :biglaugh: No way. I'm talking "James Bond, shaken not stirred" type cool.

There was a time with TV theme-songs really fit the show...on purpose. Then they seemed to lose their significance! Think of all the 80s shows and their themes (Cheers, Growing Pains, Family Ties etc)...those themes were more like The Big Bang Theory's theme...seems now like a lot of shows have a short jingle or no theme at all (kind of like Seinfeld with its jingle of strange noises).

Cheers, The Jeffersons, Different Strokes, Friends, The Adam's Family, Baywatch, The Simpsons, The Brady Bunch, Rawhide, Fresh Prince of Bel Aire are a few that come to mind as some of the better recognizable theme songs.

No particular order:

Magnum PI
Miami Vice
A-Team
Cheers
NYPD Blue
ER

It seems today, that all you see
is violence and movies and sex on TV
But where are those good ol' fashioned values,
on which we used to rely?
Luckily there's a family guy!
Luckily there's a man who, positively can do
all the things that make us, laugh and cry!
He's, a, family guy!

The 90s era tv seemed to use pop/rock songs often...like "Party of Five" used an existing BoDeans song! Which I didn't complain about...can't hear enough of the BoDeans!

Difficult to narrow to just five:

  1. Joanie Loves Chachi
  2. Hello Larry
  3. McMillan and Wife
  4. Mr. Belvedere
  5. Webster
  6. Homeboys from Outer Space
  7. Mama's Family
  8. Charles in Charge
