Too much talk of "next" year?

Does anyone else feel that CFH is talking a little too much about next year while this year's team is fighting through a tough conference season? If I were a senior, I'm not sure if that would set real well with me. We are all obviously excited about the future of our basketball program, but still have a season to finish with this year's players. Maybe I'm making too much of this. Your thoughts?

No I don't.

The seniors can't complain. Look at DG and JVB compared to years past. They are getting to play more, shoot more, and be more successful (at least individually).

Fred is asked more about next years players, so he answers about it a lot. No complaints from me on it

What else does he have to talk about at this point? He has to sell something to the fans also. He cannot sell the play on the floor.

Maybe a bit and I get your point. I still think it is ok because there are only 3 seniors: Anderson, JVB, and Garrett. Hoiberg has basically given Garrett a shot at the NBA or a at least some D-league/Europe action because he handed the keys over to him. Anderson knew what he was getting into when he signed on to be a 1-year senior guy. The only guy that I see really being bummed is JVB, but if he is now injured, it really doesn't matter all that much.

All the rest of the guys know that they will get a real shot at a NCAA tourney berth if we can fight through this year and learn from it. I think he is doing the right thing, even if it does suck that we all but wrote off this year...

DG may actually have a shot at the NBA thanks to Coach Hoiberg. I highly doubt he'll complain about anything. If GMac were still here this year, DG would be selling satellite dishes next year.

Exactly. I don't know how you couldn't talk about next year if your hands were tied this year, and every day in practice you watched the scout team rip up the starters...especially given the turn our team has taken in w's/l's.

He should talk about next year. Time to get this fanbase energized instead of just moping around saying "We'll never be good, just accept it" kind of crap that gets really annoying.

Does anyone feel like too many people are making too big of a deal out of the fact that he's talking about next years team when next year's team is able to demolish this year's team, a team that did just about as good as any of McDermott's teams ever did?

I noticed that DG did not have the ball fifty per cent of the time last game. CFH is trying to bring SC and Jake more into the initiating action.

Is it really true that our Scout team consistently beats the starters pretty bad? Or, is it more of a case that it happened once or twice and now it has taken a life of it's own on the internet?

I've heard that CFH uses words like destroyed and demolished to describe what the scout team does to the starters. Its definitely not a one time thing.

Due to three of the recent blowouts, we better hope that in practice our team is being blown out by more than 20 points.

yeah, we all heard it once or twice from FH at the start of the year. Are we repeating the same FH comments from that time or has there been a lot more practices since then where the scout team guys are taking it to the starters?

i love talking about next year - that's the beauty of oregon doing all of us a huge favor - the clock has been moved forward 2-3 years. instead of worrying about getting a new coach and giving him 2-3 years to build his team, FH landed some stud transfers that make us relevant NEXT year.

It'll be epic to watch the meltdown here if this team doesn't meet expectations next year. And I think expectations are beginning to be too high.

Oh that's right. I went there.
