For one night Iowa played very well against us and we played very poorly. Got our *** kicked. I think most rational people see that these teams are pretty even, just like last year. Rivalries are weird and one night it can go sideways in a hurry no matter how even the teams are.

That being said, Iowa lost to one of the worst teams in college basketball today. One of their fans was so mad about the performance, they came down from the cheap seats to get close to the bench so they could yell directly at the team. Yeah, they deserve to be made fun of.

That game was rated higher on The Gazette's 'Top sports stories of 2013' than ISU winning a game in the NCAA tournament.

Hey guess who Iowa State played exactly 4 years ago today? Some team called Eastern Illinois. It wasn’t all that memorable of a game, but the Cyclones won by a score of 101-53.

I normally revel in Iowa losses, but I find it hard to do so when there was a 28-point performance difference between our team and a team that's won a grand total of four games against power 5 opponents in its history.

Yes, I know every team matches up differently, every game is unique. Maybe we should suggest that Eastern Illinois has dynamic NIL support. They only lost at home against the likes of Western Illinois, Ball State and a truly amazing Alabama State team that's won one game this season against said powerhouse that defeated the Hawkeyes.

Why are we celebrating this again???

If our floor is getting blown out on the road to a rival that was favored in the game so be it. If our floor is a home loss to one of the worst teams in college basketball and a historically bad loss then we got problems. Get some perspective, get over it, and enjoy the hawk tears.
