Today I Learned (4/2)

Since we're on the topic of sleep, I just learned in class last week that we spend 6 years of our lifetime dreaming. That's a looong time.

I have my best ideas right before I go to sleep, not sure why. That is why I keep a pad of paper and pen by my bed.

I remember my dreams a lot of the time. About half of people do. I should do the same as you. Back in my high school psychology class, we had an assignment to write down our dreams in a packet for a week and then our dreams were analyzed by a dream analyst.

I remember a lot of my dreams, but I can also tell when I'm dreaming. Usually when I figure out I'm dreaming I wake up about 5 minutes later though.

During that week of the assignment, I had a dream that I was telling people about my dreams and writing them down.

How about this one: With the avg number of sperm released by your father in his lifetime, and the number of different combinations/arrangements of chromosomes, there is roughly a 1 in 7*10^13 chance that you will have a non twin genetically identical sibling.

Also if you are really into this check here for more TILs than you could possibly learn in a day. Today I Learned (TIL)

Today I learned who Bobby Jones was.

Bobby Jones was a golfer in the 1920s. Won 13 out of the 20 major tournaments he played in, as an amateur. He retired and didn't even really make his money playing golf. Apparently he was one of the great golfers and I had never heard of him before today.

I didn't learn this today, but many people are astounded to learn that there are no muscles in human fingers.

I wasn't too shocked, but enjoyed people's reactions to that 'news'.

Also, he was one of the founding members of Augusta National and the Masters tournament. He really was quite an interesting person.
