When we drove it in 2000, we hit snow in the panhandle and the roads were so slick it added a lot of time to our trip. That was a really long drive then, 27+ hours to Phoenix, but it's those kinds of memories that can be awesome.

Wednesday. 8 people in a caravan...2 from Omaha, 1 from Kearney, 4 from Fort Collins, 1 from Colorado Springs. Driving all night, straight through. I feel like I'm getting a little old for this, but we'll give it a shot!
Left Des Moines around 9 yesterday, drove 17 hrs, stopped in Albuquerque for about 5 hrs of sleep, & just got to my aunts in Mesa around 4 this afternoon. Lets go Cyclones!
