You can sure see a huge difference in confidence and ability in the 2 QBs that were playing today. I finally have a vote of no confidence in SR after thinking it was injuries that were the issue with him the last few years.
This makes me think about what Woody wrote about college athletes this week after Sash's passing.
One QB has a running game, the other didn't. If this team could rush for more than two yards per carry, you'd see his confidence skyrocket.
Richardson's just the first in line the other players will just have to wait their turn.
Maybe if the opposing defense feared his passing ability they would back off and it would open up the run game?
What happened to the Richardson that ran like crazy and was the only one who seemed to be able to pick up 10 - 15 yard runs off of broken plays? He seems to have disappeared. If his name wasn't on the jersey I wouldn't recognize him at all.
There's not a single person who posts here, or many college QB's that would be able to make throws when the opposing DBs only have to worry about their one key (a decent D1 receiver) and no running game to support, along with 3 or 4 man front being too much for an Oline to handle on pass protection. Not sure if it's schematic, fundamentals, or talent, but it was hard to watch either way.
that's not how it works. besides - iowa didn't have to 'back off' as they played straight up 4 DL defense and stopped our run game.

Maybe if the run game existed, the opposing defense would have to be concerned with it.
Richardson getting passes off to begin with were kind of remarkable. Two O-lineman were getting split by one Dlineman often.
