I am happy to have watched, and in some ways participated in your time at Iowa State. Through all the adversity you faced, you have come out the other side a stronger individual. Be proud, because we all are. If you ever need anything, Ames will always be a open home and family to you. We have your back. Good luck in the Pro's my friend.

Dear DeAndre,

I'm not going to lie. I didn't think you'd be that good for us this year. I sure as hell didn't think you'd lead us to a 3 seed, Sweet 16, or make us Big XII Tournament Champs. You have great talent and whether you are drafted or not, you will be one hell of an NBA player someday, I have no doubt about that. But it was never your talent that impressed me most, but your leadership. You are a born leader, and brought this team together and made it a real family.

It has been a pleasure watching you play this season. Several times I stopped and thought to myself: "Why couldn't we have him 4 years ago." I don't think I was the only one. Over the short period of time at Iowa State, you became my favorite all-time Cyclone player. My love for you has strengthened throughout the course of the season.
