Tired

If we win 3 or 4 games... the financial hit will be large unfortunately.... but totally understood.

Fans don't like watching the same BS year after year... the same stupid mistakes over and over again. And especially not trying to win the game.

In the postgame he said he wanted to do that drive correctly instead of rushing it. Fine, but that's exactly what Iowa wanted you to do dumb s**t. You only succeeded in that drive because Iowa gave it to you. They went into prevent and wanted you to dink and dunk it down the field and kill the clock. Are you that stupid? You were played.
The worst part is (outside of him totally getting played - JFC that was embarrassing) - we went even SLOWER than iowa was even begging us to! No way they could have guessed we would be THAT stupid. We literally ran the clock down! Play after play after play! I’ve never seen anything like it. Fans were freaking booing him in Jack Trice, yet he was so damn proud of that?

I don't think there is any question about that. It's about having a culture where you take the rivalry game EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY. McCarney learned from Hayden, winning the instate game is a huge deal. Once McCarney beat Iowa in 1998, that was it, his Cyclone teams were always up for this game. Even in loses in Iowa City in 2004 and 2006 they played like they freakin wanted it. For once, in Ames, I would love to watch a Campbell coached team come out and play with their hair on fire like we did in 2005. Our crowd and team smelled blood, even before the kick off, you could just feel it. We competed well in 2017 on offense, but we do not have anywhere near the offensive skill talent of Butler, Park and Montgomery. Since then, it has been a sh#t on offense and special teams against Iowa. And you can also tell the Iowa program plays this game like it is their Super Bowl, though their fans will never admit that.
Well said.

It is their Super Bowl. And ya know what? They are correct. It is THAT important of a game. It rally does deserve the highest amount of focus and discipline and preparation. I highly doubt our staff will ever ‘get it’.

Tired of our "star" wide receiver, dropping every pass...and letting kicks bounce instead of catching them.

JN couldnt catch anything last year, I thought he was supposed to be better this year.

The dude should not see another minute until, he learns to catch, or they buy an extreme amount of super stick em.

The Iowa-Iowa State game isn’t important because it’s a rivalry, it’s important because it’s a yardstick for Iowa State to measure program health against the team that arguably nearest meets its current environment, a very public yardstick that is seen by in-state recruits. I don’t think anyone that watched the game today would say that Iowa didn’t widen the current gap between the programs in the past twelve months.

On top of that, there’s not really a light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t see anything that Campbell and company are doing right now that’s going to raise our ceiling in the foreseeable future. I just am not sure how long you should let Campbell risk widening the gap even further before trying something new.

I use Iowa and KSU as comparisons due to some similarities in how they have to be in order to be successful.

ISU had the chance when Bill Snyder reportedly wanted the job and was turned away.

You HAVE to be succinct in order to be at your best and both KSU and Iowa are a step above over time in that regard.

That said I'm just not sure who you bring in to really do it at ISU right now so if it's 7ish win seasons with some weirdness, so be it.

I've read season prediction posts for the last 6 months. Especially after the gambling stuff, the majority have been 3-4 wins, with a few as high as 6. Too many holes to fill. Leading up to today, I expected a loss in a close, low scoring game. So far everything seems to be on track. I guess I'm not sure why so many are freaking out.

I don't know why anyone continues to pretend that anything Campbell says to the media is meaningful in any way. Why are you getting mad about whatever crap he barfs up to the media after a loss. It's meaningless.

The TV announcers were just as flabbergasted about the clock management as the fans were.

First photo they are playing 9 yards off bitter. Second photo is when play is developed. As you see he still has plenty of space for quick throw or quick slant. Play action to quick slant. Or quick throw after snap. The play was in traffic in center of field for deflection. Before the snap you see how many Hawkeyes are within 5 yards of the line. There were so many blown options all day like this with space.
It would of forced them not to play 9 yards back and then opened up passing down the field. I’m not understanding this coaching philosophy of offense.

So what point is he trying to prove to anyone by losing? That makes no sense.
He’s not trying to lose. But expecting him to approach this game like a fan is dumb. He doesn‘t deviate from his plan, however, it doesn’t translate into a lot of wins though when you‘re only trust is in your DC.

This team finds 7 wins this season?

They have beaten repeatedly trying to play the same game as Iowa for years. Play as good as you’d like we’re 1-6 playing them
You can’t Out-Iowa Iowa. You can’t beat them the way they want to beat you. Frerentz and his def staff have been doing this a Loooonnngg time. Campbell has destroyed the rivalry for ISU. His nonchalant attitude and lack of passion toward this game is horrid.

Not a popular opinion, but Hayden Fry was a good ******* football coach. If I were a coach in this state I’d probably take the lead from him whether that’s at Iowa or ISU.

Campbell doesn't seem to mind the early season losses. I think he uses them (and key plays like getting stuffed on 4th and 1) to motivate the players. It's worked in the past. Hopefully it will work again this season.
I hope he figure’s something out….
