Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on the term "tavern hawks" and the joke about Iowa fans not attending the UofI? I've heard these terms used for the past couple years and never really gotten them. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are many Iowan's who didn't attend the university but are Iowa fans. Many of those people didn't have the money or some other reason that they couldn't attend college. So what? Is that funny to some of you? Does laughing at other people's misfortunes make you feel good about yourself? Basically I ask this question because that moron "WALKING CY"'s ridiculous comments regarding what constitutes a "true fan" got me thinking. At first hearing these jokes I laughed, but after YEARS of hearing them it got me to thinking. All this joke really does is make us sound like the jealous fat girl in high school who never got asked to prom. Why aren't we popular? Why don't people like us? Personally, I think it's time we nip this joke in the butt and move on. That's just my 2 cents, I'd like to hear what other people think.
