If ISU would of had the same success as Iowa has had the last 30 years in football would we have TAVERN fans.

TAVERN FAN: A fan because everyone else is doing it, Has no ties to the u of i, does not have a full set of teeth and could not find Iowa city on the map.:biglaugh:

We would do well to have many, many more casual fans, regardless of if or where they went to school.

It takes a "special" kind of person to be a tavern fan. That being said no matter what level of success ISU has on the football field the caliber of folks that cheer on the Cyclones will be higher then that of the hawks. Now that is a scientific fact.

How do TavernHawks help EIU??

1. They never go to games because buying tickets would take money out of their beer budget.
2. They never make donations because that would take money out of their beer budget.
3. They never buy EIU gear first hand because that would take money out of their beer budget.

The only thing they are good for is when their trailer gets taken out by a tornado, they are there on the news sporting their Gator Bowl t-shirt from the 80's that they found at Goodwill.

You think casual fans don't buy anything new?

Casual fans, yes. TavernHawks, No.

Edit: Expect for the 20 tigerhawk stickers that they have to buy to keep their POS car together.

There is a thread about this in the In-State Rivals forum

Tavern Hawks

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on the term "tavern hawks" and the joke about Iowa fans not attending the UofI? I've heard these terms used for the past couple years and never really gotten them. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are many Iowan's who didn't attend the university but are Iowa fans. Many of those people didn't have the money or some other reason that they couldn't attend college. So what? Is that funny to some of you? Does laughing at other people's misfortunes make you feel good about yourself? Basically I ask this question because that moron "WALKING CY"'s ridiculous comments regarding what constitutes a "true fan" got me thinking. At first hearing these jokes I laughed, but after YEARS of hearing them it got me to thinking. All this joke really does is make us sound like the jealous fat girl in high school who never got asked to prom. Why aren't we popular? Why don't people like us? Personally, I think it's time we nip this joke in the butt and move on. That's just my 2 cents, I'd like to hear what other people think.

Get real, no self-respecting Cyclone would have ever posted a message such as this. Attrocious! Obviously, you must be one.

It's never to late to convert!

Re: Tavern Hawks

Are you on some sort of dare to see how many times you can have this posted and moved, posted and deleted, posted and ignored?

it was moved once to a thread that didn't even relate to it....so to answer your question.....no, but good one
