He's a sophomore, and he's also a Christian. In this day and age of universal acceptance, is it so hard to just give him a pass on this? I for one applaud the courage of his convictions. His confidence in this, as well as in his play, is exactly what the leader of a football team needs.

When exactly did anyone start needing a "pass" for being Christian? He's giving his praise to god, not shoving it down anyone's throat.

literally no one is staying anything about being a christian is bad. its "christians" being over protective about their faith. no one cares. and I'd venture to guess that the majority of football players are christian and the number 1 talking point in any post game interview is to thank god and jesus... etc. it just isn't that special.

I like the quote minus the Christ mention. That didn’t seem to fit the spirit of the perfect messaging which led into it. I am not religious (anymore), but comparing yourself to god in any form is not particularly humble IMO and it causes an immediate eye roll from me. That being said, Brock got his point across and my criticism is super minor and probably irrelevant.

To be clear, I think Brock’s attitude, leadership and maturity are off the charts. And he is so good and put together at his age he has me questioning if I should believe in god again. Now that I think of it, could he be Jesus?

He wasn't comparing himself to God, he was comparing a situation he is going through to one Jesus did and that as Jesus did, he too should stay grounded and humble and remember to serve others. Comprehension must be difficult for you

I'd say I'm a wishy washy atheist. I grew up a Christian, studied eastern religions (Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism) in college and realized that what I'd been taught growing up was largely fiction. But I still go back and forth, leaning toward Christianity and then running from it (mostly due to the Evangelicals). I want to believe, but my logical side says... nah.
