He was a terrible hire. It was so critical to get it right because we had the momentum of a top 25 caliber program, and the next coach was the guy that was going to keep that going. Instead Pollard rolled the dice on a mid major coach to save a couple bucks, and failed badly. Getting the program back to that level with the next coach will be that much harder now.
context matters but if ISU misses ncaa tournament next year that would be 3 out of 4. Is that acceptable for a program like ISU?
pollard fired Morgan for missing 2 of 3 and a 55-42 record. Morgan went 40-10 at home. Prohm Is 45-42 since 2016-17 and has gone 36-16 in his last 50 home games.
If we look like we do this year and it looks like no changes have been made, as well as no progress in some of the players, I would certainly be on board with the possibility of a change. There's a long time between where we are now though and that happening. If you were to tell people in 17-18 we'd go from last in the Big 12, to winning the conference tournament title and being a 6 seed in the NCAA tournament the next year, I would bet 100% of the people would sign on for that. We don't know how next year is going to shape up so we might as well show a little bit of positivity until then.
If we have 18 wins without Halliburton next year and there looks to be some positivity, I don't know if you want to throw that away and go out and get a brand new coach who has to then start another rebuild. If we are .500 or below, then there's a serious conversation that needs to happen.
Yes context does matter. Being below .500 next year is way different than being an 18 win team and slightly missing the tournament, even if they both end up with the same result of missing the tournament.
It all depends on how we look. I don't think Pollard will fire Prohm if we're competing game in and game out, lose some tough games, and ultimately come just shy of the tournament. I think the situation becomes different if we're the same team that we are this year.

If we are sub .500 next year, change will be dependent on the type of pressure Pollard gets from the big donors. If there is desire to move on next spring, my guess is-- after an 'exhaustive search', Pollard will hire his man in waiting--TJ.
If that were to happen, would TJ even want to come here after being passed up for the job previously?
I'm not counting on our newcomers to be as good as Hali, Shayok, and Jacobsen were last year. They'll have every chance to prove me wrong.
Yes. If TJ gets offered this job he will take it.
Unless by that time he is doing well enough at UNLV to be getting bigger and better offers.....
When you see the staff and competition for staff CMC puts together it makes CSP staff look really ... meh
I think Jamie would be willing to pull the trigger with TJ pretty early if he decides to let CSP go.

But that isn't what I responded to. You said the game was clearly in hand - once again saying something that wasn't even close to true to make a point. There are more than enough true things to say that damn Prohm, stop making things up. When you do that people start to not believe you even when you are telling the truth.

Yes. We're flailing about with comparisons to Duke and Kentucky that critics of Prohm aren't making, comparisons to UNC and Roy Williams that critics aren't making, and now reaching for UMBC vs. UVA.
It's just stupid. The man is bad at his job. It's OK to admit that. Plenty of people are bad at jobs. There's no reason to make it more complicated than that.
