This is why Prohm must go........

The idea that we should move on from Prohm and set our sights higher because of how much Matt Campbell has turned around the football program is one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen on this board. To suggest that the football program when Campbell was hired and the basketball program were at an equal level is a staggeringly dumb thing to believe, and yet there are at least a few posters who have bought into it hook, line, and sinker.

What is the basketball equivalent of an 8 win football season with a bowl loss? What is the Fred Hoiberg equivalent to a 23 win season and a first round loss?

That said - I couldn't think of 2 more qualified and competent men to coach our programs as they both do it he right way. Hope both stay here for many, many years.

Lot of people here have the Springstein song Glory Days as their anthem. Probably wear their tattered old jerseys to the bar and have old drunk guys talk about the time you scored a touchdown for get to the easter regional semi-finals in class 1 7 man football.

Fred didn't even enjoy the Cult of Fred enough to stick around for it.

He basically bailed when he failed to recruit somebody to fill Niang's spot that makes Hoiball tick for after the following year. Better to get out of town as a hero than to be dragged out by a mob.

Facts are that Prohm:

Took over a very strong program and has won three NCAA tournament games in four years.....NONE in the last two

Has a 35-37 record in Big 12 play in four years......13-23 the last two years with mostly his players.

Had a defensive philosophy tonight that chose not to double team Ohio State's best player and it clearly didn't work



Some people are getting angry about people "hating" on Steve Prohm and yet their defense for what he has accomplished at ISU is laughable.......he hasn't done a terrible job by any means......what he has done is mediocre.....if you are okay with mediocre then great but I'm not.......

People keep talking about all the NBA players he inherited. And none of you ever go back and admit that no one saw Nader, Naz, or Deonte as NBA players when they were here. Matt Thomas was a bust going into his Jr year to many in the fan base. He’s now playing in a top euro league.

But that would be honesty, and we can’t have that. It would fly in the face of the ********. Just like the same people can’t admit that his first team was 7 guys, 6 when Jameel had his falling out

I'm not one that thinks Prohm is perfect or is never deserving of criticism, but man some of these standards some hold him to without giving him any credit for coaching ability and the big wins he has brought us are head scratching.

They really aren’t head scratching. They’re the group think narrative that a small sect of the fan base has adopted since being scorned by Fred.

Fortunately, it’s not prevalent throughout the fan base or the Ad. But these minions and their short selective memories are determined to be heard.

So, let me see what you guys are saying.

1.) It is impossible to want the coach to stay due to successes and be critical of some of our team problems. If we are critical then we are part of an underground 'crew' of Fred worshopers who want Prohm gone.

2.). You can't criticize or blame terrible offensive sets on the coach. It is 100% the fault of the players for not executing. Nice of you to support our players.....

3.). If we do criticize the coach, we need to provide specific examples in addition to providing specific sets we would run differently. This is so you can tell us we don't know what we are saying since we aren't D1 coaches. Gotcha, so if you hold yourself to your own values it means that your support is worthless since you don't know **** about D1 bball either.

4.). If we provide specific examples of bad sets, then we need to prove it by drawing a specific map of what went wrong for each player. If something did go wrong then it wasn't on the coach (because as I mentioned in 2 above it's always the players who don't execute) and we have no life because we tried to prove your wrong and it doesn't matter (because of #3 above where we aren't D1 coaches anyway)

Does that about cover it?

Can you imagine how mad they’d be if he actually did lose his composure?

I'm not misrepresenting anything. Go actually read your responses. This is exactly what your are saying. Defend and deflect regardless of the argument. No unbiased reflection on how the team had issues or if coach Prohm may have had any role in those challenges.

Well, let me be the 100th person in here to tell you that Prohm isn't perfect. You know he has had issues making adjustments to games and drawing up successful offensive sets, both out of timeouts and for inbounds plays. He also had challenges in dealing with team chemistry.

You can defend Prohm all you want, that doesn't prevent the FACT that there are many areas he needs to improve. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

I think the problem is that 1) Fans think they know everything. We don't. You don't. There might very well be reasons Prohm does things the way he does. And those reasons may be right. Or they might be wrong. But either way, it is very likely that you have no ******* clue either way. 2) All coaches have things they can improve. 3) If 1 and 2 are correct, then it would be nice if people didn't talk in absolutes on here.
