This is priceless.

The Golden Gophers have won more NC than Nebraska, problem is, anyone who has seen one happen is dead. Nebraska is on the same path.
Close to true but there are still some people around who remember 1960. Not very many who remember their previous one in 1941 though.

And no, I'm not one of them.

My dad was 7 in 1960. He said he doesn't remember. Grandma (not his mom) was 19. No dice their either, although she couldn't tell you who won a championship in any season of cfb, so there's that.

Urban Meyer isn't walking through those doors.

Partial qualifiers aren't walking through those doors.

A lot of their fans just don't understand how much CFB has changed since Nebraska built their program:
- Reduction of scholarships dramatically increased parity
- Bringing in partial qualifiers when others won't was a huge advantage
- The TV money is so large now that everybody has at least good enough facilities that it is within the noise in terms of recruiting
- In the memories of current recruits Nebraska has had limited success

I do think they can offer a coach a hell of a lot of money, and will get plenty to pick up the phone. It's still a good name brand in a big-name conference. The only thing that might save them eventually is to suck for so long that if they get a good coach that gets them to 7-8 wins consistently they finally don't try to run him off.

I’d have bet good money the combination of playing in the worst division in the P5 and Frost as coach would get them to 7-8 wins. Apparently not.

Don't forget the ability to put a chunk of your skill positions (and even a couple of linemen) on track scholarships to avoid scholly limitations. I believe they had at various times WR's running sprints/middle distance, a RB running the 100M and a couple of linemen in the throwing events. These guys were "walking on" the football team.

I'm in complete agreement. It's pretty crazy how bad of football is being played there currently. Through 3 years now under Frost, Nebraska is 9-17.

2018 Wins: Minnesota (7-6), Bethune Cookman (Non-Major), Illinois (4-8), Michigan State (7-6)

2019 Wins: South Alabama (2-10) Northern Illinois (5-7), Illinois (6-7), Northwestern (3-9),
Maryland (3-9)

2020 Wins: None, and likely will only get 1 (Illinois, who will go winless)

He's won 2 games against teams that have ended up with winning records. That's absolutely awful.

And 1-7 in his last 8.

I didn't love the guy but what Reilly and Frost have done really speaks about how good Bo Pelini was, he's not an elite coach but they were always competitive under him, they had an identity they could lean on in a tough defense and he wanted to be in Lincoln. Plus he's a total *******, so it's tough to find a better fit than was there. They weren't amazing under Bo but they were basically awful instantly after he left.

This is against the b1g west as well, it couldn't get any easier at the p5 level.

Here's their + / - score differential against each team they've played in the Big 10 since Frost's 1st year:

Big 10 West
Illinois: +23 (2-0)
Iowa: -6 (0-2)
Minnesota: -2 (1-1)
Purdue: -18 (0-2)
Northwestern: -8 (1-2)
Wisconsin: -33 (0-2)

Big 10 East
Indiana: -7 (0-1)
Maryland: +47 (1-0)
Michigan: -46 (0-1)
Michigan State: +3 (1-0)
Ohio State: -75 (0-3)
Penn State: Have not played them
Rutgers: Have not played them

I find it incredibly funny that Nebraska has played Ohio State 3 times in 3 years and Iowa not only hasn't played Ohio State in 3 years, they have only played Ohio State 3 times in the last 10 years (2017, 2013, 2010).

Not only have they played Ohio State 3 times, they haven't played any other East team more than once and two of those teams they haven't played at all. What the eff are they doing in the big 10 office when it comes to scheduling? I thought Michigan was supposed to their "protected rival".
