I know I may be a little optimistic... but with the return of CB could iowa state be looking at a possible ncaa berth in basketball, and a potential bowl game in football? (largely due to the degree of difficulty of their schedule)
That sure would be quite the turn around after a couple very disappointing seasons in each respective sport...
Not to fuel your fire but in 2007 Minnesota football was 1-11 for the season. In 2008 they were 7-6. My point being that just because we went 2-10 last year it does not mean that we have no chance at a decent season. When I look back at last year there are a couple things that I take away from it.
1. The many, many penalties that we recieved (especially the personal fouls) did nothing but hold the team back.
2. I counted 5 losses last year that we could have or should have won. The biggest of those being UNLV, Kansas, and Colorado. Winning those 3 games puts us a win away from a bowl game last year.
3. I said from the start of last season (not on this board but among friends) that we were a very young team and although, as you can probably tell, I was always optimistic, in reality I did not expect that a team that young could succeed.
Basketball is harder to judge but Brackins coming back is a HUGE step forward. This team was also pretty young and I would like to think that the extra year has helped that.
Take all of this for what it is worth, but for every bit of bad news that comes our way there is also news that gives me hope and gets me excited about the next season.
I must thrive on this being a Cyclone fan and Cubs fan.
