Things to do around Colorado Springs

Some of my favorites:
1) We took a bike tour that took us by van to the top of Pike's Peek, then we rode bikes down the mountain, only having to peddle in 2 or 3 places.
2) We loved Garden of the Gods, but did it by horseback. It is enough up and down that you don't get bored like a basic trail ride.
3) White water rafting, but check the level of the tour you take to be compatible for your kids.
4) Hiking is great and plentiful, but pack water.
5) Walk across the bride over the gorge.

A few more that I've collected for our travels to the area:
Miramont Castle
World figure skating museum
May Nature Museum
Fort Carson Museum

Forgot Ghost Town Wild West Museum

Also places to eat:
Joseph's Pancake House and Steak House in Manitou Springs
get a breakfast burrito at king chef's diner
BBQ - front range bbq or rudy's country store
pizzeria rustica
mountain shadows restaurant in colorado city

Hope this helps,

Not sure if it's "must do" necessarily, but there is a historic gold mine tour just outside of Cripple Creek that is kinda cool and unique. About an hour from Colorado Springs. I think there might be some other stuff in Cripple Creek, also, but can't speak to anything personally.

Depending on how willing you are to venture away from Colorado Springs, there are lots of interesting rock formations and hiking relatively accessible SW of Denver... Roxborough State Park, Red Rocks Amphitheater (free to tour anytime there isn't a concert and a small museum about acts that have played there) and hiking in the surrounding park, and Mt Evans if you want a relatively easy trip to the peak of a 14er. Plus a bunch of other smaller parks. Roxborough is about an hour away; Red Rocks 1:15.

Just a word of warning, don't go up Pikes Peak the first few days you are there. Get your body used to the altitude before taking that drive.

Just get out in the mountains and drive. Its so cool just to do so. If you can get a cabin in the mountains it cost a bit more than staying in town but very much worth it.

.

Cripple Creek the town is neat, until you realize it is just a bunch of casinos made to look like an old town. It is worth going to see, but that is about it.

Do the Royal Gorge zip line across the Gorge! Just did it this week and it was amazing to be 1200 feet up as you go across. Costs $50 and is well worth !

My wife and daughter went as well and loved it.
