Things have changed

Still living in the $EC world.
That's why Missouri left and it is also why Nebraska moved to the B1G. Now look at how both football programs have cratered.

Of the 4 schools who left the Big 12 Nebraska and Missouri have slightly more tv cash but both football programs are worse. aTm is about the same in football. Colorado is geographically in no man's land and they now have a higher profile to California recruits. Potentially they could benefit the most from the move but certainly they aren't a power in football and I think the Pac 12 distributes less cash than the Big 12.

Bottom line none of the 4 schools which left the Big 12 are significantly better off than if they had stayed.

Mizzou had a good thing going with Pinkel and in the last few years of Big 12 play they actually had a defense that could help them beat Oklahoma instead of trying to outscore them. But, no one in the Big 12 plays defense...

That is a myth. Joel Klatt has proved this a myth with the right measurements and stats. Brent Blum wrote a piece that is on this site comparing the low scoring Wisconsin vs Iowa game to the high scoring OSU vs ISU game which basically illustrate what Joel Klatt has been saying for a couple of years.

Nebraska will catch up to ISU in TV revenue since Neb left the Big 12 in 2023...Yes..2023 based on future TV revenue projections. Prior to this year, ISU had made more than $40 mil more in TV revenue since Neb left the conf...Remember Neb didnt get a full share until this past year.

So it will have taken a decade for Neb to make more TV money than ISU....all just to leave bc they were mad at TX and in the process destroy their fball program...Nice work.

Colorado at one point was a top 25, maybe even top 20, coaching job when they were in the Big 12 North.

That has a lot less to do with their move to the Pac 12 and much more to do with the numerous scandals during the Gary Barnett era that essentially destroyed their program. They've been to two bowl games since Barnett was removed from the program at the end of 2005 (he is credited with that 2005 Champs Sports Bowl, even though he was removed prior to it).

Barnett and Slick Rick Neuheisel are the first two Colorado coaches that come to my mind as well, but McCartney won a national championship in Boulder back in 1990. There is literally an article posted 5 hours ago talking about how 5 wins in Boulder is now the “new normal” (article written by Sean Keeler, another ghost from the Big 12s heyday)

Analysis: Colorado football coach Mike MacIntyre is on the verge of showing 5 wins is the Buffs’ new normal

I remember the big deal that was made about TAMU joining the SEC. Then it was like "Crap we have an odd number....oh hey look at Mizzou whining and whining....yeah I guess we'll take them"

Taking Mizzou is like taking a big bag of fecal material.......
