They're Gone!

Out with the chaff. This is why we live in a free country so everyone can do what they want to do. I have a feeling that this will be looked back as a very good day for Iowa State University and our 10 team league.

Everyone went to the "brink" to work a better deal for themselves and maybe everyone did get a better deal but it sure was scary looking over the edge of that "brink" for a while. I think that even Texas was a bit weak in the knees at several points of the reorganization.

We are going to be so glad that Nebraska is gone. I almost feel sorry for the Hawks.

I'm definitely glad they're gone but I don't think I'll feel all that sorry for the hawk fans. Matter of fact, I told one yesterday that the huskers are now their problem and thanks for taking them off our hands.

Being that we can beat them every year in Bball, and I viewed them as a team we could compete well with in Football going forward, I sort of wish we could keep NU on the schedule. I'm pretty neutral on CU.

The Big XII is dead. Long live the Big XII.

And my favorite memory of Nebraska

Don't worry CU and NU, I will continue to hate and root against you. That is, only when you're not playing the sqawks.

Kinda crazy when you think about it. We just became the best basketball conf in the nation, and we are a few nose hairs from being the best football conf.
And a year ago we werent even sure if we would survive.
Crazy I tell ya!

I certainly won't miss when Nebby would come to Jack Trice and the people that sit beside us would either sell/give their tickets to friends of theirs who were Nebby fans. Iowa fans may be just as as unreasonable as Nebby fans but I don't know any reasonable Nebby fans and I know many reasonable Iowa fans.

In honor of Nebraska leaving the Big XII (Conference of Champions) it is my pleasure to post this video to keep the memory of Fusker fans alive. We must never forget how great they truly are and how much joy their presence brought to the Big XII Conference. I would like to wish them continued success as they work to become the most hated fan base and team in the Big 10.

Strangely enough that NE player that punched a Mizzou fan was from Ankeny... making him the worst type of person, an Iowan cheering for NE.

Knew the guy in high school he was a real ****.

Found this in an article about the Huskers.... it certainly explains how Tom Osborne the fraud built their program up.

Nebraska was used to having its way in the old Big Eight. It usually played Oklahoma for the Orange Bowl berth each year and that was that. Everything else was details.
But things changed when Texas came in the room back in the mid-1990s and declared that the new Big 12 would not allow partial qualifiers. That's where it started for Nebraska. Osborne had built part of his empire on kids who just needed a chance. They didn't have either the minimum grade-point average or high enough SAT test score. They could achieve initial eligibility with one or other but they were labeled. Prop 48s they called them, a nickname derived from the NCAA legislation.
"I was on the [Big 12] task force," said former Iowa State AD Gene Smith, now with Ohio State. "I'll never forget when [Texas] came in the room.
"Texas would not come into the league unless we eliminated the Prop 48 deal. Nebraska lived on it. Oh my God, it was like heat across the board. The animosity started back then."

Sportsmanship has always been an area of sports that Ankeny has consistently failed to teach. I am not shocked to hear that this a-hole player is from Ankeny. Par for the course.

Bingo, that portion of the article about Osborne vs. Texas you posted explains so much! Living in the land of Nowledge, I don't get to see much of that due to the anti-Osborne media blackout.

NU (the N is for kNowledge!) wanted the partials back then, then claimed the academics were a B1G part of the conference change, and finally lost their AAU membership... Somehow seems fitting...
