ND to the Bee One Gee has always seemed like the logical landing spot, but that white whale has been hunted for decades.

Indiana reportedly makes more TV revenue than ND. That obviously has to change and they need to recruit better off of that 1988 national championship
 
ACC schools in the AAU:

Duke
Georgia Tech
Maryland
North Carolina
Pittsburgh (will be ACC)
Virginia

I would guess Maryland as the school that has contacted the Big Ten. I don't see North Carolina looking to leave a league unless they can go with Duke, and the geography is weird, too. The same can be said of Virginia and Virginia Tech (politics are involved there). Georgia Tech doesn't make sense for the Big Ten geographically, either. It could be Pittsburgh, but they aren't technically ACC yet, and they don't add much (Big Ten Network is already on TVs there). Don't forget that Rutgers is AAU as well. A lot of candidates for the Big Ten if they're interested.

Also, if the Big Ten is interested in expansion, let's not forget that Missouri would ultimately love to be in that conference. If their options are Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Missouri, I feel like Mizzou would be high on that list (if not atop it).

The only way that would work is if all three of those schools were in the same division. We may actually get a North/South divisional split:

Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and team #12 (Clemson?) in the North.

Baylor, Texas, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Florida State in the South.

Close- I doubt Ok-Ok State get split up. More likely TCU would be in with the North; they're the new kid in town, and used to traveling (Conf USA, Mt West).

OU-Ok St could be a protected rivalry in a geographical division split

Either one of these splits would be ideal to ISU. Not quite Big 12 north quality - but in a big time league, don't think we could have things much easier.

TCU, WVU, & VA TECH have been the class of their respective conferences. Don't know if I'd call that easy. It'd also be likely we'd be playing four teams from the south every year rather than three to keep a 9 game conference schedule.

Nothing against those schools, but when your alternatives are playing Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida State, and Baylor (of late) I would prefer the above to any other available options.
 
Today multiple sources have confirmed to our friends at Cemetery-Hill.com that Clemson and the BigXII have "agreed in principle" to Clemson joining the conference in July 2013. While we cannot confirm that the BigXII or the Clemson Board of Trustees have officially voted on the measure, we believe any vote at this point would be considered a formality. We will update with more information as we receive it. Who's ready to join the ACF on the official Tobacco Road Farewell Tour?
