If we do go to 12 teams, I would look for Oklahoma and Texas to be in separate divisions possibly. 4 Texas schools plus 2 Oklahoma schools in one division won't fly IMO.

I personally don't see it happening - Oklahoma and Texas being split, that is. If Oklahoma and Texas were to be split neither school would want to give up the Red River Shootout - that's a big moneymaker for both schools. That would mean they would have to be each others' protected rivals. At the same time, neither school is going to want to have to go up against each other twice nearly annually just for the right to play in the conference championship game. Plus having Texas v. Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game nearly every single year is just setting yourself up for yet another round of conference instability.

I think they would be split too into East (Texas) and West (OU) divisions. The fact that they might play a second time in a conference championship game doesn't seem to bother Michigan and Ohio State and it would not be an annual happening by any means. I like an East of ISU, WV, Louisville, Texas, Baylor/TCU, and KU or Rutgers and a West of Tech, TCU/Baylor, KSU, OSU, OU and BYU or KU.

(Somewhat) interesting article in the STL Post Dispatch today. Now that the dust has sort-of settled, we'll probably start to see more reports like this one of what individual players were doing during conference realignment.

MU vows to leave Big 12 next year

1. Deaton says Missouri is gone next year no matter what happens with WVU. That either means that WVU is definitely coming to the B12 in '12, or that MU is not afraid of any legal action from the league.

2. Apparently, Boren had a lot more to do with MU leaving than anyone at UT did.

3. It's still unclear what promises MU had from the SEC that it would get an invite, prior to application.

4. It will be nice to get schedules for next season confirmed for both conferences. Finally.

Are we just letting this thread die of natural causes? I think it has suffered long enough. Time to lock it and put it out of its misery moderators.

Plus it might help get rid of Mizzoulander

Can't let it die until 20,000

Big 12 realignment isn't done yet. WVU hasn't sorted out their Big East exit strategy, there's still a likelihood we will see expansion in the near future, and the skirt lifters have yet to pay their way out of the Big 12.

While the monster thread has admittedly lost some of its mojo, I still like that it pops in every couple days to say hello.

Long live the monster thread!

I will not be surprised if we play Mizzou next year.

Sounds like Denton crumpled under the Boren tactics.

Yes. Denton could have pulled the plug in the move to SEC in plenty of time, but he was too weak to deal with Boren. Now he is trying to sweet talk out of why he crumpled. Talking to SEC for a year was not all that loyal to the B12 either. Denton turns out to not be very impressive. He does not look like he tried very hard. If his boss told him what to do, he decided to be a YES man. He was tired of the B12 and he has a sincere hope that his team will not be Krushed in the SEC. One more bumpkin.

Cue Zoulander.

First of all, his name is Deaton...second, your posts are just as annoying and even less informed than Mizzoulander's are. You have no clue what you are talking about, please stop posting....end rant.

This makes no sense. Not that I disagree with it...I really don't understand what you're trying to say. I don't get where anybody "crumpled" - Deaton was optimistic that the Big 12 could be salvaged, right up until Wallflower Boren wanted to jump to the Pac 12. What's to "deal" with? He believed (and still believes) that Boren will lead OU out of the Big 12 at some point.

Who is Deaton's "boss?" He's the chancellor of the university...the only people he answers to is the board of curators. You don't think Greg Geoffrey had informal discussions with other school presidents during realignment? If he didn't, then he's incompetent, and not doing his job.

I personally don't care how "hard" Deaton tried to save the Big 12; he's paid to make decisions in the best interest of MU. When those responsibilities diverged, he left the Big 12 position.

I'm interested in your response, as we both try to sift through all this meme b***s***.

I've seen that someone, somewhere in this thread commented that Colorado State might be a good addition to the Big12. Maybe they are attempting to raise their profile with the hiring of former Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain hire. With CU down, CSU could become the best team in CO.

Anybody think CSU would be a good addition?

I am saying that Mr. Deaton Dearton Denton put on a big front to keep the B12 together and then when the four defects bombed out with the Pac 12, he had an opportunity to solidify staying in Big 12. Yes, we did not have TCU signed up yet, but David Boren and gang were saying their penance by then and wanted to stay in the B12. However, Deaton said he needed time to think what to do. Deaton as Missery continued to work with SEC until they thought they were able to convince themselves that it was a good move. Either Deaton decided it himself or the curators told him what to do,. I tend to think it was Deaton going for the split. Now he was making the move for money for for prestige. I still do not see where the money will be that different after the next round of contracts. In fact, B12 members may get more than SEC. Then it was for prestige. Yeah the glory to win half your games and go to a lower tier in the SEC. I just do not see why Deaton made his move. Time will show if it was worth it.
