It's going to be more than what NU gave up. They will have given less than 1 year's advance notice and the revenues per team are up from the time of NU's departure.
Not sure if this is true but this is what I found:
50% of share of conference revenues with two years notice. 90% with 6 months to less than 2 years. 100% with less than 6 months.
No numbers have surfaced as of yet. I think I saw that aTm has their lawyers studying the situation to see where they stand.
End of the day, it's who would be willing to listen to B12 offers, not who we or anyone thinks would be great to have.
Teams that would/should have strong interest AND would listen: BYU, TCU, L'ville. Get 1 of those and I don't think the conference steps off much if/when A&M bolts.
ESPN is reporting that Houston would also be a potential candidate ... because of the TV market there. I understand, but uggh. If you're looking for TV sets in Texas and big time competition, I think TCU gets you there.
Teams that aren't going to listen include ND, WVU, and Pitt. And AF just doesn't seem to make sense in any sport outside of football. Have you seen their basketball facility? That and their team area a complete joke, they're a JC team with a high school gym, at best.

What happens when TCU falls off at some point? Theyve feasted on nobodies in the west for awhile now, what happens when a) they get more challenged, and b) they have a coaching change. Pretty small alumni\fanbase, not much need for additional audience in DFW anyways (between OU\TTU\Texas fans in DFW)
I see your point ... but what if OU or UT falls off? It's happened before and can happen to anyone in the conference. But you're right, maybe more of a risk with a TCU. But then again, maybe a B12 affiliation makes them stronger.
The regional rivalries TCU sets up are more interesting than some others, IMO, and might be more attractive to the southern teams.
Houston is a better choice than TCU IMO. I have no problem with adding them if Aggie leaves since we'd just replace a TX team with another. Keeps the BXII footprint in Texas as dominant with 4 teams. I'd also like to keep it at 10 teams until Tier 1 is renegotiated.
Anything above 10 needs to be outside the state of TX though. ND, BYU, ARK, Louisville I could live with.
That said...Aggie isn't gone yet. I won't count them gone till they are gone with the way the state of Texas operates.

If one of those fall off, they still have massive alumni and fanbases compared to TCU, so they'll still bring eyeballs. TCU? not so much.
Coaches are telling players across the league.. If they werent allowed to leave they might be kicked out.. ADs are ******, not about the move cause they saw it coming but mostly about the timing..there is no reason this should be going on now. should happen in the offseason

They're fine as a member, but not the key 10th member.
What do they actually bring? Who actually watches Air Force football? It's not the members of the Air Force?
How can they compete long term? How many Big 12-caliber recruits can they actually get that are willing to have the military commitment?
Well, outside of football, their teams (and facilities) are pretty weak. Last season they finished just behind ... wait for it ... North Dakota State in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings. ISU was #60, finishing just behind K-State, but ahead of KU and Colorado.
Cue LakeBison to lobby for B12 membership in 3-2-1 ....
The only school west of Big 12 territory that could bring anything to the table is BYU and I don't see it. I think they'll try their independent experiment for 5 years or so and see how it goes. It will have to be a Texas school or someone east
Everything Ive been told that neither OU or Texas want to be in a 9 team only league.
All that is fair. I just didn't understand all the ******** all over them. And I agree, as a 10th member, they leave a bit to be desired. If we go back to 12, I'd be happy to have them aboard.
If that is the case then it is time for Texas to actually prove they are worth a **** and get a decent 10th conference member.
