No games on sundays for them, so what? That's not all that difficult to schedule around.

Financially, there is not a bigger school that is potentially available than BYU. They have the most eyeballs and they have the biggest national draw of any non-Big10/PAC/SEC/ACC school (other than ND).

Thank you for the link. You can read exactly what they say and determine the underlying "what they mean."

AD Tom Holmoe sounds like BYU isn't a lock to do anything and their options are more wide open than previously thought. The writer of the article didn't slant it so it will probably bring more speculation of what BYU will do.
 
The feeling I get here is that everyone wants BYU in the Big XII, with a tough read on the AD. They like the national exposure on ESPN that their deal brings for mormons outside of the state, however they really may have a problem going forward scheduling meaningful games after October. The Utah game was moved up, and they are pretty much irrelevant right now in the chumps they're playing.

Why on Earth would BYU act the same toward the Big 12 as the revamped Big East including East Carolina and Navy? There's 5-10x the money to be had as a Big 12 member.

Applying BYU's balking at the radically revamped Big East to what they'd agree upon in the Big 12 makes no sense at all. The Big 12 was already more lucrative than the old 8 team Big East and it's going to be light years more lucrative than the new watered down version going forward (if that conference even exists).

It's all about what's important. If TV deals and overall revenue are important, BYU is target #1 by far (unless Notre Dame is interested). If geographic fit and logistics for the student athlete are more important they probably aren't, although it's not like there are a ton of great fit options outside of Louisville.

It may not make sense, but that's what's been reported over the past 2 months. It sounds like theyve got the arrogance of Notre Dame\Texas without the pedigree to go with it. If something was going to happen with BYU and the Big 12 it wouldve happened a long time ago, as they were one of the initial targets for expansion.

I would disagree. Big 12 does not need BYU. BYU is becoming largely irrelevant as they struggle with their mediocre schedule. WHO wants to watch the BYU network? Really. IMO, it would be stupid to cave in to the demands of BYU. WHY should the Big 12 have to concede anything to BYU? We do not need them. They couldn't elevate the status of the conferences they were playing in to AQ status. BYU is overrated.

I never said the B12 needed BYU or that they could elevate the status of the B12. They don't need to concede anything at all to them. I just said they're the biggest get available right now from a financial standpoint.

And I think we've learned with Notre Dame that tradition and national following is far more important than current mediocre success with a mediocre schedule.
 
I still am not sure what the sticking points on BYU negotiations are. Is it they need more content for BYU network than the BIG 12 can accommodate. I mean, they can have most of it from what i can tell. We do not want to play on Sunday anyway. Just what concessions are needed?

For the Conference Basketball Tournament we definitely want to play on Sunday. NO concessions. And NO partial conference members. We are the Big 12. They are just BYU. BYU was a member of a non-AQ conference and could not even come close to elevating that conference to be considered for AQ status. The clout of BYU is greatly over rated. They have a cult following from a religious sect. That is it. NO to BYU.
 
I'm going to jump out there and be the very first person to suggest to the Big East that a football conference including San Diego State and Boise might be a little unsustainable.

At what point does the Big East step back and take a look at what they are doing and say, "You know, we probably CAN go that route, but it really makes no sense just to keep this flagging league limping along."
