Frankly OSU is better than UT for the last several years.

Texas needs to get a set of cahunes and play the games. I am sorry that Stoops runs the better ship for the last 8 years, but that will not change as evidenced by this year. They will not pass OU at this point. The race is over for UT. At least with a championship game, they could have another shot to lose.

I dont think that's necessarily the case. Anyways, conference power can shift over time. I think Mack's best years may be behind him, and who knows how many years he has left at Texas. What happens if they return to the level they were in the 90s with their next hire? What happens if OSU keeps getting better? Kansas State, Baylor and Missouri (if they stay) have been getting better, and CPR has certainly done some improving here as well. And in the last several years we've seen flashes of excellence in Tech, and Kansas, though the current coaching regimes may not last very long. Honestly it may be best to just stay geographic, for regional rivalries as well as for travel costs.
 
Big East divisions leaked? I don't know whether this has anything to it or not, but it sounds like Central Florida and Temple are now locks. Army choosing to back out? Boise State out of play or not? SMU and Houston in play?

I still think no matter what West Virginia is gone.

Tentative Big East division split has Rutgers with UConn, USF, Central Florida and maybe Navy | NJ.com

Though Big East presidents are hesitant to add Boise State at this point, the league's athletic directors are pushing for it because of what it means for football, the official said.

This resembles Conference USA of 10 years ago... take WV out of there and I might pay for that channel NOT to appear in my HD cable lineup...for football at least

Yep. You think about all the teams the Big East have/will have lost to the ACC
-Miami
-Boston College
-Syracuse
-Pitt
-Virginia Tech

Take West Virginia out and you're left with one original member of the Big East when football began in 1991 who will have played 1991-present. Any guess who the lone ranger will be?

Rutgers...Not exactly the bastion of success over the years. Other than Rutgers all the other 11 members will have played in the MAC/C-USA/Mountain West/FCS division at some point in the last 10 years.

If it looks like C-USA it basically is.
 
This is a great point. TCU adds more nationally relevant games provided TCU stays good in the future. But I think Boise State would be too big of a risk to add to the Big 12. I seriously don't think they could stay as good as they are now playing in the Big 12.

David, no disrespect to TCU, but the state of Texas already watches the Big12, I think they could have added more TV sets and more $$$ if they added someone like BYU, also Mizzou fans want out of the DeLoss Dodds conference or his reincarnation of the SWC, have a good one

Yeah, but the idea is that with TCU, you'd get more nationally relevant games, which, if the Horned Frogs become a top 15-20 program, would definitely be the case. Quality football is just as good as total TV sets. Boise doesn't have a lot of fans, but college football fans everywhere are obsessed with them.

Exactly -- Boise State seriously ups the buzz factor of the conference which has a lot of good teams, but doesn't have the same national appeal as the SEC or even the Big 10.

That means based on history they would have to play eachother twice to win the title, I really don't think either schools wants to do that. Even if we add WVU and UL with Mizzou staying I don't think it would be a north with ISU, KU, KSU, WVU, UL and MU. ESPN/ABC would require UT and OU to be in seperate divisions. I am sure this happend with Michigan and Ohio State last year, sure the B1G spun it, but I am sure ESPN said put them in seperate divisions to maximize your payout.

I completely disagree. Maybe a network says we'll pay you more money if these two teams play in separate divisions but no network is going to tell a conference how it's going to to be set up. Like others have said, there is a good chance competitive balance will shift over time as it has in the past. Would the networks require divisions to change again? I think not.

A source within TCU's athletic department said TCU will gradually slide into the conference's revenue-sharing structure over the next four years. TCU will earn 50 percent of the normal $17 million payout in the 2012-13 academic year, 67 percent in 2013-14, 84 percent in 2014-15, and 100 percent in 2015-16.

TCU will not simply take over Texas A&M's slot in the schedule next season, Neinas said, meaning TCU will not play Texas on Thanksgiving weekend.

"We're in the process of reviewing the schedule," Neinas said. "There's nothing definite there. In all likelihood that will not be the case."

I would think this might lend itself to expansion, as they receive full shares once that Tier 1 deal is up for renewal.
 
This report lends itself toward more expansion in the near future.

If we were stopping at ten by replacing Aggy there is little need or benefit to establishing a "ramp-up" revenue sharing model. Doing so allows the nine long term members of the Big 12 a little additional financial wiggle room to bring in more teams prior to Tier I TV renegotiation.

Regardless of what happens, the Big 12 wants a stable, solid league without any question marks when the time comes to re-do that TV deal.

The deal is the BE has to have their crap together by 1 Nov for their next big TV contract. That means anyone that moves is on their dance card. :twitcy:

Interesting that they hit full revenue sharing at the time we hit our new Tier 1 contract. I totally agree that this seems to point towards further expansion.

Also, if they are only getting 50% of their $17M share next year, do the other schools just split that up? That would be around $1M additional per school. Tack on the aTm exit fees, and that is a nice little bonus.
