No, that would be JP "not rocking the boat." If you don't think that JP realizes that ISU isn't in a position to turn nose up at an extra $2+ million per expansion school via the escalator clause that would be added onto our TV deal, then you are clueless. JP is first and foremost a businessman. He's going to say what is in the best interest for ISU. The Big 12 is currently at 10 schools? Then that is what is best for ISU (at the moment). The Big 12 wants to bring in another 2 schools, which will give ISU another $4 million annually? Then that is what's best for ISU. Another 4 schools bringing in another $8 million annually? You get the picture.

ISU is no worse than "on the fence", but I would bet ISU is actually in favor.

This was eight months ago on a regional radio show. I doubt it was a politically move. I was sitting two tables from him watching and he looked pretty sincere about it.

Then your information is 8 months old, when the Big 12 wasn't publicly looking to expand. And you likely fell for a PR move.
 
I guess that was also eight months ago before all the business with the new TV deals came out and stuff though also. He did say whatever gives Iowa state the most money would be what he would be in favor of

"Staying at 10 is best for ISU" can be true depending on the context. Compared to dropping to 8, moving to the MWC, or scraping the bottom of the Big East barrel, yes, staying at 10 is ******* awesome.

He specifically said he wasnt in favor of expanding.This was back with the ND and UL to the big XII thing. Right after we got WVU I think. But like I said this was when we didn't have anything in the contact about increased revenue if we added a team like we allegedly do now.

I'm not against Pitt joining and would be pretty awesome if it was the nail that brought ND into the fold. How about 16 with the following adds: FSU, Clemson, Miami, Lousiville, Pitt, ND. Damn, now that would be the first SUPER conference.

Yea I guess. Is it even confirmed that we will indeed be making more money by adding these teams? Did the specifics of the TV contact officially come out or was it all just speculation?
 
The only reason I see Pillars against it is if the initial division splits would divide ISU and the Kansas schools. Then I could see all three AD's holding out to get some sort of agreement to keep us together.

Would you prefer that lineup to FSU, Clemson, and 4 of GA Tech, VA Tech, Virginia, UNC, NC State, and Maryland?

I would take any one of them over Pitt, and probably all of them except Virginia over ND.
 
I'm with JP on staying at 10. Especially with the signing over of rights. The round robin play is great - we play everyone.... Like a conference should.... But when you look at the opportunity of a couple of million in tv revenue.... Kinda hard to say no. Adding Louisville and Cincy wasn't going to do that.... FSU and Clemson and vt do.

I don't care about round robin in football, but in basketball it was awesome.

Do you really think UNC, Virgina, or Maryland will bolt on the ACC? I don't. There have been rumors of GA Tech and VA Tech involved in the realignment discussions and think those are far more likely.

My comment was based on my perception (right or wrong) that Pitt is a far more natural and historical rival for ND than the ones you mentioned. Example, would ND be more enticed at playing Pitt every year or say Maryland? My thought would be Pitt; so if having Pitt as a conference rivals is what causes ND to finally jump aboard then I'd be for it.
