The fact that Disney chooses to air their games on ABC or ESPN is a matter of the contract. But, the contract is over the Tier 1 rights. The BTN gets the second choice, after Disney decides what is wants to do with their first choice, whether it be on ABC or ESPN, dependent on the contract. The only wrong with the order you stated is it should be. 1. ABC or ESPN 2. BTN. Look at the link that was provided. It will explain.

Show me the language in the Big 12 contract that says so many games will be shown specifically on ABC, then how many will be shown specifically on ESPN/ESPN2 - if you can show me that, I'll believe you.

My understanding, from the Big 10 side, is that the pecking order is:

1. ABC (National Over the Air)
2. ESPN/ESPN2 (Cable Subscription Required)
3. BTN (Regional)

Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's how I've understood it.

EDIT: Actually, I have to be right, look at the selection order - it is clearly 1. ABC, 2. ESPN/ESPN2, 3. BTN - there has to be a separation of tier 1 & 2 - otherwise the BTN could jump ABC and air the UM/OSU game at the end of the year if it chose to.

Here ya go scroll about 1/2 way down in the page to see this:

Big 12 and Fox Sports Media Group Announce Landmark Agreement - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

The Fox deal contracts out 40 football games for Tier 2.

Just thought I'd throw in a few of my two cents from other Bloguin sites (I own Madtown Badgers - A Wisconsin Badgers Blog) as to what they are hearing in regards to the rumors of Big 12 expansion.

Clemson site - Cemetary Hill says it's a done deal per their sources but won't be announced till after the Big 12 meetings.

They have been pretty accurate in their sourcing to this point in time, so take it for what it's worth.

Says deal will be near $30 million per team including $3.5 million from CCG. That would mean TV deal would be around $25-26 million per team. That would mean FSU and Clemson would have to add $100 million of increased value to TV deal. Is that feasible with Tier 1 & 2?

There are a lot of Seminole fans and they have money. Gets us into Florida. Don't see it, but would be great

With the pending 13-year grant of rights by the Big 12 schools, what are the PAC-12's options for expansion (if they ever wanted to)? BYU would be a logical target, but they'd have to dip into "lesser" teams from the MWC/Big East without geographically leapfrogging the Big 12. I like that we've created a geographic barrier that seemingly keeps the PAC-12 at bay.

The whole "Mormon" thing has been an issue for the Pac-12.

BYU and Boise St. would be the most logical choices if they want to add quality programs, but I don't see the Pac 12 presidents liking that. No way do they want Boise's academics, and like CrossCyed said, the Mormon affiliation is going to block BYU.

I do not want BYU to many issues and Boise well its Boise. FSU, Clemson first and if we expand past 12 then its anyone's pick.

Their run at some Big 12 schools was really their only shot. Their best option going forward is to do what they have already done: secure quality inventory through a partnership with another conference, for some non-conference games. They have a deal with the Big 10 in football, that makes me wonder if the B1G might be standing pat as well.

Byu is logical...

Other than that:

UNLV
New Mexico?
Colorado state?
Wyoming?
Boise St?

Seem the most logical, but not major new markets really.
