Better than Kene as RB2, and be will be a great RB1 when Breece is drafted. Kene was just fast as hell and a great ST’s player. Definitely could have accomplished more at RB if not for injury. Brock is a different type of RB as well.

Here's my concern about TE: With Soehner, you had a guy who could be a lead blocker, could seal the edge and could catch a pass down the middle. Rus is probably a better lead blocker and Dean is probably a better receiver. But, you take away some of the unpredictability when you are playing those two guys vs Soehner. It's a pretty sure bet that when Rus is in, we are going to be running behind him. If Dean is in, can he block well enough to be effective? Or, does Chase Allen take some of that role and we go less 3 TE sets?

From what I've heard, Rus is more of an all around player...aka not as good of a blocker but better at route running/pass catching. With that being said...It seams that Dean may be better at both....like a more physical version of Chase Allen. Campbell has been quite high on him.
Kinda sounds like Ezeriah Anderson (now listed at 6’5” 230) might be the best bet for a physical Hakeem role. Earned comments from the coaches in the spring.
I think it was Coach Mouser who said all the tight ends are competing to see who is the best passer, to replace Soehner’s golden arm. They’re having fun with it.You failed to account for Soehner's passing in your TE stats. Which TE is filling that gap? I would assume it is Easton Dean...
Of course, the reporters asked if that wasn’t Dean—but Mouser was having way too much fun with it to answer that.
I’m not sure what take you think you’re disagreeing with here. That’s exactly my take on Kene. I just happen to think that Jirehl gets used more often.

I would agree. The #2 back is set in stone I would think. The idea of having a one two punch especially in the key games to keep Breece fresh will be great.

I would agree with this. I expect we will see Brock as the feature back in something like the first drive of the second quarter or the third drive of the game. If Breece may indeed be involved in the return game he is going to need more help carrying the load than he had last year.
What I’d add to that is:
A. Rus appears to be more like Sam Seonbuchner. Only he claims to be a better runner and ball catcher—both of which, if they prove true, would provide Tom Manning with options.
B. With everyone justifiably talking about Dean, they seem to be slipping right over DeShawn Hanika. Not only is he athletic as well, since Spring the coaches have repeatedly said that he is the best in-line blocker of the bunch.
Oh, and:
C. It sounds right now kinda like we’ll see about as much of Tyler Moore this year as we did Dean last year. Not a whole lot.

I was actually waiting to hear someone complain that they’d had a heart attack with the thread title, because they thought that the offense had decommitted.
While I will agree Purdy does try too hard to make a play that isn't there, sometimes you just need him to try and make a play. How many times in the last 3 years has he escape a rush and pass faked his way to a first down? The key is to be good enough that ISU is not in so many desperate situations, like the end of the championship game. ISU is going to miss the Brett Farve in him more than a lot of fans think.
THIS. I just finished watching the Championship Game replay. We start the game by kicking out of bonds. Then, gave up long KO returns, Simply mindboggling how inept we are at covering KO's. There just seems to be NO priority on these plays, beginning with the special teams coach.
It starts with the offensive line as they are the guys who allow everyone else the time (QB/WRs) and space (Breece) to do their jobs. With Downing back, increased experience, a real offseason to condition (excited to see full offseason gains with Andrews), and tremendous depth I expect this unit to take it up a notch from their late season, peak performance. An area where they at times struggled was pass protection, something not accurately reflected by the numbers. Purdy was running for his life in several games last year, with Louisiana (understandable there) and Texas really standing out. The latter showcased Purdy putting on a clinic as far as being able to evade pressure and often make something positive out of it. Simply put, there were a lot of games where Purdy didn't have a clean pocket.
With improved pass protection (less communication breakdowns also being a factor in this) and a vastly improved receiving corps on paper, I expect Purdy to have a much easier time throwing the ball this year. In addition I'm expecting the staff will utilize more play action passing, capitalizing on the attention Breece is bound to receive. If Purdy somehow improves some of his own weakness, for instance long ball accuracy and or arm strength, watch out.

On that note our STs were almost the sole reason we lost to Louisiana.
