I think someone may have already mentioned this but I thought I'd throw it out there again and see what ppl thought.

First choice is obviously to stay with the Tex schools in the original Big 12, but if they bolt, here is what I think would be a good scenario......

The MWC sets the super conf wheels in motion by begining with the original 9 members plus 1 in Boise. Add in our 5 remaining Big 12 schools (Ia st, Kan, K-st, Bay, and Mizzou), then snag Houston from Conf USA. Set up 2 divisions and you got a nice little league here.

Moutain West Division:
San Diego St
New Mex
Colo St
BYU
UNLV
Utah
Boise
Air Force

Great Plains or Midwest Division:
Ia St
Kan
K-St
Mizz
TCU
Wyoming
Houston
Baylor

-Pretty wide open, very competitive with schools all around same size and stature. Set up pretty well geographically.

My opinion, no way in hell. We need to get as far away from Texas as possible. Staying with them any further is only 'live to die another day'.

My vote is for the Big East....at least basketball will be big time.

Not bad...but there is a reason the MWC doesn't have an autobid. It is hard for me to get too overly excited with any of the teams in that conference. Just doesn't seem to be a natural rivalry, and in such isolated parts of the country.

really? I've never heard of this option before...

Not to mention I don't want anything to do with any other Texas team. They are bound to tear apart any conference they belong to.

ISU to the MWC would be the greatest thing for us considering how the chips are falling with the departure of all the Big 12 teams.

I would hope that ISU stays in the same league as KU, KSU and Mizzou so that we are geographically co-located with other teams in our new conference. If not, we will definately be out on our own island where traveling and recruiting could be very tough.

I just saw on ESPN that KU and K-State were being looked at the MWC. No mention of the Clones or Mizzou.

I agree. Even if the 10 remaining teams stick around, which seems unlikely at this point, we would be in college sports hell. It would suck to play OU and Texas every year in football. Not to mention, Nebraska and Colorado have really been the only two basketball programs worse than us over the past 5 years.

No, and no. With all due respect, we would all be putting ourselves on an island going nowhere in the MWC. It would be much harder to recruit players who want to play in the MWC than those who would like to play in the Big East.

Leave one deserted island for another for ISU...no thank you.

Good point. Fortunately, we can now put that period in the past and call it the McDermott era.

I hope ISU stays allied with Mizzou.

1st choice: Big 10
2nd choice: Big 12
3rd choice: Big East
4th choice: MWC
5th choice: unthinkable

I could like a 16 team MWC, at least it keeps the recruiting doors open in Texas. And with great football teams like Utah, BYU, BSU and TCU along with the Big 12 additions, I'm sure a BCS automatic bid would be there.

I hardly think that Baylor, TCU, or Houston is going to tear apart any conference they belong to.

I know its unpopular but I think what you are proposing is the most likely outcome of all of this. The Big East/ACC/SEC/B10 battle over teams has yet to begin and if we thought UT or NU controlled out destiny we are in for more of the same in that battle. There are much bigger fights to be held there than any we can hope to win. IMO of course ... its not like I have inside information or anything. The basketball only schools, having 20 teams in a conference, and the huge geograpical and political landscape make managing AND keeping together a conference like this a nightmare. And that's assuming it could be formed in the first place.

So I believe the MWC is were we will end up when its all said and done and frankly I don't think its all that bad. Is it s a step down from the B12? Of course, maybe 1 1/2 steps. There are some good football teams in BSU, TCU, some decent ones Utah, BYU, and the B12 remnants. Basketball is OK too. Not great ... headlined by KU of course. I think when Freddy turns things around that we can be one of the better teams in a conference like this.

I would think there would be one change in your divisional alignment though. Switch CSU and Wyoming. Wyoming belongs in MTN West divison (lots of rivals there). We get either CSU or AF.

There is one thing that has been talked about and deserves to be considered by people here. If the 5 B12 teams join with the MWC, I think we should do something creative like -> Have them join us not us join them. If they bring in more than 6 teams that have played together ... the B12 BCS standing of the B12 conference would be preserved. So the expanded new B12 would get an AQ. Hmmm. Wouldn't that **** off the Big Boys.

And as long as I'm dreaming here, when we invite the MWC teams to join the B12 one of the rules for accepting invites is that BSU changes their field to GREEN !!!
