Couldn't find a thread on this, other than mentions in the Oscar thread.

Just watched it on dvd last night, and thought it was a great movie. My wife thought it was boring, and fell asleep less than half way through.

The historical setting really interested me, and overcoming something like that to deliver one of the more important speeches ever given really drew me in. I also thought the interaction between the king and therapist was funny at times.

I can certainly see why it won so many awards.

Wow. I watched it last night also. It was not great, but it was solid all the way through. I liked how they wrote up the end. Just an ordinary man thrust into a big role.

I thought it was t-t-t-t-terribly boring

Nicely done sir.

At times it was but I really was impressed that they were able to make a watchable movie out of a limited story. Overall I thought it was good and what makes it so was the top notch acting. Firth was totally believable as Burtie and Rush was his usual brilliant self. I was waiting for it to turn to the typical cheesy ending and there was the faintest of hints of it towards the end but it avoided the cliche pit falls for the most part.

I can see how somebody might consider it boring, but I thought it was a great movie. Great acting and very funny at times. I wasn't sure how they would make a movie with that story, but it ended up very interesting, especially considering the historical implications.

Historically it was interesting, but as a movie, I thought it was terrible. I would have rather watched a History Channel documentary and know that what I was watching wasn't spruced up for cinematic appeal.

A fast going movie it is not. Once you get past that the story is amazing and all of the history taking place in the background of the story is large and rich in content. We loved it.
