I don't know how you could make the argument that this was not government censorship of speech. However, a right is only a right until it infringes upon the rights of others. Maybe the city can somehow make the argument that swearing in public somehow infringes on the rights of others, idk.

This won't be allowed to stand. It's a slippery slope. Every time someone like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, etc... opens their mouth I am offended so does this mean that I can sue them?

Freedom of speech is protected but I don't see anywhere that a persons right to hear only what they deem to be appropriate language is protected.
