The Fran fade

I'm pretty sure there is not a single iowa state fan here that is salty. We just can't help but laugh at y'alls delusion. Luka is a fantastic player, but he wouldn't have been drafted by the NBA and he apparently didn't want to go play overseas. So he had no choice, something y'all are forgetting Many of you are saying "Iowa state is just mad you don't have as good of player as Luke." Well we do....he's that guy that will be a lottery pick in the NBA. Luka comes back and it's a guaranteed BIG10 championship with a final four appearance or bust. Good luck with expectations for the first time under Fran. It will be magical to watch
The biggest delusion of these Iowa fans is that because they have Luka back, they're now expecting to win the Big 10 title and at least get to a Final 4.. Let's just pump the breaks a bit here. No doubt Iowa's going to be good next year, but I feel like people don't remember how last season went.. Iowa was most likely going to be a 7 seed in the NCAA tournament. Let's not act like they were ranked in the top 10 or top 15. #25 in the AP and #35 I believe in the NET.

Can Iowa have an unreal season and do something special in the post season? Absolutely. But man there are some people setting their expectations WAY too high.

No Iowa fan here has said we expect to win the B1G and at least get to the Final Four. You are just making that up.

With Garza back, the odds of both of those increase quite a bit in comparison if he doesn't come back.

Iowa should be a top 3 team in the conference and one of the top 10 or so teams in the country.

Garza was a conference player of the year, first team all American and runner up for NPOY last season.

Haliburton was 2nd team all conference last season.

Just because he is a much better NBA prospect doesn't mean he's a better college player.

All three Quad City TV stations said Iowa will be favorites for the Big 10 title and a top 5 team on their news broadcast last night. Feeding the delusion.

I was more talking about the idiots on Twitter. You're right I haven't seen anyone on here guaranteeing anything.

But yes Garza increases those opportunities exponentially. Virtually impossible for Iowa to do either of those things without him. Still going to be incredibly tough for them to do those even with him.

I'll believe it when I see it as far as Iowa being a consistent top-10 team. No doubt they're going to be ranked high to start the year.. #4-8 in my opinion. By the end of the year, I see them being a top 15 type team at best. That's not me saying they absolutely won't be ranked higher either. There are still a lot of question marks and things that need to be ironed out.

Tyrese averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. He didn't play the last 13 games. That's why he wasn't 1st team.

Can you stop with the facts, please? Thanks.

And also, Luka still won't be drafted after a senior season. TH, on the other hand, played 1.5 seasons and is an NBA lotto pick. The two don't belong in the same sentence.

Why are you using NBA draft potential to determine who the better college player is or was?

Garza was literally voted as the 2nd best player in the country last year and was voted the best player in his conference. If Haliburton stays healthy all season, he doesn't sniff any of those accomplishments.

Haliburton doesn't belong in the same sentence with Garza in regards to accomplishments as a college basketball player.

Iowa has the potential to be very good but their season hinges on a few things.

1.) Fran's rotation would scare the hell out of me if I was an Iowa fan.

2.) JBo is a massive defensive liability and now you have to hide him again this year. Kid can shoot the lights out of the gym when he's hot but he absolutely kills Iowa on the defensive end. I said it last year but I think Iowa is better without him.

3.) Who fills the Kriener roll this year? He did a really good job last year when Garza was out and when Iowa needed a spark. I don't see that guy on Iowa's roster this year.

I just don't know why either side wants to argue who's the better player.. They're completely different players. Like absolute opposites. I just hate these sorts of conversations / arguments because all either side does is try to tear down one player to prop up the other.

Typically, top 10 teams have a pg that can break a press. Did Iowa recruit one in this class? Cause I didn't see one last year.

I honestly think good coaches will figure out how to play Garza. He kind of came out of nowhere last year, so they were having to adjust on the fly. But now the book is out on him and I think he will have a much harder time scoring.

If TH stayed healthy all season, we don't know what would have happened. Unless you have the ability to run real-life simulations?

I don’t think so. The guy has a knack for getting fouled inside, even if half of them are bailout calls/flops.
