The Drake Advantage?

Check out Drake's new admissions campaign...

The joke writes itself.

Pretty sure they were aware of the D+ grade connotation going in, there's no way they'd miss that. Seems like they're trying to establish an edgy kind of campaign that will intrigue students to take a longer look. If you've seen how much stuff students are bombarded with from hundreds of colleges that all look the same, this approach seems to make more sense than sticking three students under a tree and looking exactly like everyone else.

I see your point about wanting to take a different approach, but the D+ thing seems a little too ironic to be intentional.

Right. I just don't think it's possible that, before launching a campaign like this, they didn't say to themselves "hey, D+ is kind of a bad grade, you sure about this?" Could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet they saw this angle going in and figured it would be a bold play on that idea and something that would get students to actually turn the cover or click past the homepage.

Well you know the marketing department at EIU loves this - they finally found a college campaign that was worse than "Let's Get Mad!"
