Thanksgiving supper

I think one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving dinner is cold turkey sandwiches from the leftover turkey later that night. Nothing better then nibbling on cold turkey and putting it on a couple pieces of wheat bread. Can't wait!!!!

A little take off on the Corn Casserole. Yellow Sweet Corn, White Hominy, lots of pepperjack cheese and sour cream. Mix it and bake it till the extra cheese is starting to brown on the top. This, Sage Dressing and my Cajun Fried Turkey is all your need.

my girlfriend's family is Norwegian, so her grandma makes fresh lefsa. I use it to make a norwegian burrito, if you will, filling it with a little meat, stuffing, potatoes, and broccoli cheese casserole. Good stuff.

Mom's Pumpkin Pie with Bourbon.

One Thanksgiving my Mom made a fantastic meal. Too bad I had to stay in bed with stomach flu!!

They say the average american will eat 3000 calories on Thanksgiving day and will gain a full pound between Thanksgiving and Christmas (which most will never lose).

So in the past 36 hours I've consumed 3,000 calories of just Mountain Dew (3 2 liters) without counting food so I don't wanna know what's gonna happen on Thanksgiving. I might go Michael Phelps.

Throw me some cheesy potatoes and I'm a very, very happy man

I love the traditions: turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing, the afternoon coma. . . But I married a man with vegetarian kids. We made a faux turkey that was actually pretty good (you could never compare it to meat, imo, but it was good as a food product. We still had the turkey besides, so I didn't feel deprived).

But pumpkin cheesecake beats pie hands down. It's amazing.

And not necessarily Thanksgiving specific, but I think the best fall food is a steaming slice of apple pie served a la mode with cinnamon ice cream.

I used to eat a traditional thanksgiving dinner until I married into the mob. Now I feast on Italian specialties every year. Can't beat it.
