Texas has no chance

Random observations based on some comments within this thread:

1. Defeating Texas will NOT guarantee a move from an 8 seed to a 7. A loss won't drop ISU below the 9 line, either, unless some crazy movement happens among 8-9-10 teams (and bracketing rules come into play as well).

2. Anyone who prefers Iowa State to face OSU rather than Mizzou in semifinal — and also hopes to climb the seeding ladder — wrong strategy. Want to grab a 7 seed (maybe even a 6)? Minimum: Beat Missouri in the semifinal. It isn't how many games you win in the conference tournament, it's the quality of those wins.

3. Texas has no chance.

Unrelated question..anyone going to vegas by thursday? I have a small favor to ask.

Texas will not be a push over by any means. Their injuries certainly don't help their cause though, but Barnes will have them ready to play with a solid game plan. I'm sure Freddie will do the same. Key is obviously controlling Brown, while everyone else gets solidly defended. And rebounding. They are young, so if we take care of business, and play like we've been playing, it will be a win.

Beating Texas will lock in a 7 seed IMO. We are a top 25 team in a power conference, those types of teams get 5 and 6 seeds in the tourny. Our resume is certainly just as good as the teams in the 5-6 range. Also if we do beat Missouri I think we will for sure get a 5 or 6, not a 7.

Looks like Texas will open favored by 1.

Vegas needs to read this board. They should know better.

I would personally bet a lot of money on Texas but then they would have a very good chance...so I won't be doing that. :)

I think true Cyclone fans want us to win the tournament and if that road gets easier by somehow facing OSU rather than Missouri, so be it. I'd give up a seeding spot in the NCAA tournament in exchange for a shot at a title on Saturday.

Doug Gottlieb says this is a MUST win for Texas and Iowa State is in fact beatable, so Texas should walk away with W. What a *******.

We are beatable. Other teams have proven it. We need to come focused and with a good game plan. Texas will be coming for blood.

Not to mention the KU fans that will be in the crowd for the ISU-texas game. We should have the whole arena rooting for us. *I even think KU fans would be cool with us beating Missouri too, (we would be the best team to do it on our side of the bracket), just as long as those traitors don't win their last tourney ever.

Oh hell yes. Us playing KU for the championship probably excites them. Not to mention we are tied 1-1 and this would be a matchup tie breaker.

I'd imagine KU's feelings towards us our similar to our feeling about Mizzou. They'd rather end up seeing us than Texas because they feel like they've got unfinished business with us.
