In the NFL they also don't have to kiss the donors ***** all year long.
Very true. Not to mention, you still have the NFL pressure to win championships that you wouldn't at a lot of other schools.

I really think Mack will resign, but I have no idea who they'd hire if they can't get Saban. A lot of the good options are already taken. There is always the coordinators route to go also. Honestly, if Brown is done and they can't get Saban I wouldn't be stunned if Tom Herman was near the top of their list.
The assistants all coach "the way Mack wants them to....". From the outside, its hard to tell who is the good coordinator/position coach/recruiter and who is just "friends with Mack".
I think there will be some heavy hitters in this list if it becomes available. Guys who would otherwise be thought of as untouchable. Realistically, any coach in the nation is going to listen should their phone ring regarding this job.
David Shaw - Stanford
Charlie Strong - 'Ville
Mark Dantonio - MSU
Les Miles - LSU
Jimbo Fisher - FSU
These are all guys that wouldn't surprise me.
Along with guys like Pat Fitzgerald at NW and James Franklin at Vanderbilt who are guys who turned around previously unsuccessful programs into solid programs.
No but having the powerhouse makes the league more relevant. Until then, everyone outside the Big12 will keep viewing us as a bunch of mediocre teams that anyone could win.
Duh he is our new OC.I promise you he is not a candidate at Texas.
Listening to an offer is different than taking a job. In todays college coaches world who really knows what goes on behind closed doors when schools are looking for a coach.
I don't know why anybody would go down to college to coach when they are successful as an NFL HC and don't have to recruit players. Maybe Texas would make the pay better but it isn't worth it IMHO.
Also the parody in NFL is much more...
True, but you don't live down here in the Oklahoma/Texas area like I do. Many Texas & OSU boosters are talking about this incessantly down here. Texas fans seem to be open to it while OSU fans are legitimately scared it might happen.
Why don't you do a google search with "Gundy, next Texas Football coach" and see what comes up and then tell me you don't think he will be a candidate. There are SEVERAL articles already written about it.
Fans, boosters and reporters are wrong 90% if the time in coaching searches. Agents play the media, fans get in their mind something is going to happen and go with it. If an AD is listening to boosters on who should be hire that AD should be fired.
When a guy like John Walters reports who will be the next Texas coach you can take that to the bank, the rest is don't to get listeners, viewers and readers.
