When your building a program and are trying to get on the map wins are the key. The more wins the better. Besides we got KU and Texas to play twice every year.

Look at the best year of ISU basketball in my memory 2000-2001.

KSU - sucked
Baylor - sucked
TAMU - sucked
Tech - sucked
Colorado - same old
Nebraska - ditto

There were 6 of 12 teams in the Big 12 that were absolutly horrible. Sure you have to beat the best to be the best, but it helps when other teams struggle.

Look at the Big 12 last year, every single team was NIT caliber (debatable). Sure is harder when teams around you are good.

As compared to football, college basketball is a different animal where its a lot easier for a smaller school to rise to a national level. UNI has been able to get there.

It is always best for a school to be the top one in its state, and over the last several years UNI has become an obstacle to that. So yes, i will cheer for Iowa and UNI to lose, because them falling or staying out of national prominence is good for Iowa State.

I wish the game were called the same way both ways, but that's not making excuses. Sometimes the players just have to execute, and that didn't happen tonight.
