A&M was turned down by target #1 - Josh Pastner of Memphis

Target #2 - Buzz Williams of Marquette had a buyout clause that was too expensive.

It sounds like they are looking at Billy Kennedy of Murray State University. He is from Louisiana and was an assistant at A&M during the 90-91 season.

Looks like A&M is going hard after (and offered to) former NBA coach and ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy.

Nutshell so far on Van Gundy: Byrne wants him. The two discussed the gig Thurs. JVG mulling offer but not sure that college is for him

Van Gundy a no-go for Aggies...as many speculated, sticking with the NBA. I do love that Byrne shot for the starts on this one, however.

My expectation is that the next run will be at Ben Jacobson of Northern Iowa.

I have nothing against UNI nor wish for their demise. However, it has been a school that has been a thorn in our side for the last 4-6 years and is a team that we consistently see on the schedule. The more schools on the demise are better for the rise of ISU basketball.
