Teams you don't want to see in our region

I may be a little early on this, but I always find it interesting to see how we match up with teams from other conferences. As we saw yesterday, ISU's kryptonite is big, physical teams that can create extra possessions and take us out of our comfort zone on offense. Luckily, I think WV may be the only team that takes that game plan to another level. Even Baylor's length isn't all that disruptive. So here are a few teams I'd like to avoid. Obviously if you advance, eventually you have to play some of these teams. So I guess I'm asking who to avoid in the 2nd round.

West Virginia
Virginia
Kentucky
Louisville
Purdue
Oregon
Florida State
North Carolina
Arizona

Who am I missing? As far as teams I wouldn't mind seeing: Gonzaga, Kansas, St. Mary's, SMU, Butler, Creighton, Wisconsin

Sorry, misunderstood your question, although Carolina could easily be a #1. I would not want to face Butler - very physical, in your face, tough rebounding team. Beat Villanova twice; enough said.
 
Assuming we could be a 5-6-7, for your round-of-32 list, I'd probably add Arizona and possibly Florida. Duke wouldn't be easy, but they seem inconsistent, and UCLA plays no defense, we could win a 95-91 game in that.

I'd subtract Saint Mary's from the list, no way we'll play them before Sweet 16 (they're also 5-6 at best, possibly a 7 seed).

Definitely agree with WVU (if the refs let them hand check and grab all game and go over the back like they do in the Big XII, if not, I don't think they're as tough), and UVA, Purdue and Louisville. Also agree that it wouldn't be a bad match up to see Butler, St. Mary's SMU, Creighton, Wisky in the second round.

Basically, bigger teams - that are also very physical - (i.e. Gonzaga is a big team that isn't as physical in my opinion) could be the death knell for this team, particularly if the refs don't call it really close. On the flip side, the problem if the refs keep a tight game is that we don't have much depth and could get in foul trouble quickly.

I'm just going to enjoy this last ride for the seniors without expecting too much.

Are you a student/alum of either? Because if so, that's your answer.

If Wisconsin played Iowa State I'd have to root for Wisconsin because I'm a student there and both the head assistant coach and Vitto Brown's brother are alums of my Alma Mater.

That being said, I'd be very happy if Iowa State won that game

I thought the question would be: what 9 seed or lower does higher seed not want to see? Yea all the best teams you don't want to see but what lower seed do you want to avoid? Wichita state? Vandy?

I think 85% of the field will create plenty of front court misery for our team. Namely rebounding. It is what it is. There really are very few to avoid.

Thought about this a bit.

- Villanova: really good defensive team that can beat you in transition
- UCLA: I don't give a **** about Ball. I'd be more concerned with their bigs (skilled) and Alford (puked in my mouth a bit)

That's all part of the question. It's just more difficult to know what teams will be in and where they will be slotted. I'd prefer to avoid any P5 bubble team and I wouldn't be excited to see Wichita State. I listed 9 teams, including Virginia and Purdue, who likely won't be top 4 seeds. Plenty of top teams that I wouldn't mind matching up with.
 
There just aren't many times like WVU out there that roll line changes at you. A team like Louisville is pretty big and athletic but they have trouble scoring at times. Any Big Ten team especially a Wisconsin seems like a good matchup.
