TCU fan attendance

Bingo, this team won a Rose Bowl 2 years ago, was undefeated, and ranked #15 in the country. If they can't fill the stadium now how are they going to fill it when this team is finishing the season with a .500 record? With such small fan support I think they will regret the move to the big 12.

To bad for them but another team ISU needs to put in the rear view mirror to move up in the conference.

My dream for ISU is that we continue to play well and improve while 1-2 other programs in addition to Kansas become non-world-beaters. There cannot be a conference with 9 nearly ranked teams out of 10 long term. It just cannot happen.

Judging by TCU's first two games and crowds it will be a winnable road game that we really need. Baylor is going to come back to earth as well. WVU is a better football program than A&M and Missouri over the past 20 years and its not close, can't say these things about them.

You know the rest of the conference wants us to go back to just being a decent basketball school with a bottom five football team instead of taking out NCG destined teams.

It was a very nice stadium. I was wondering if they ever show other game scores there? We didn't see any scrolling there.

I was there. Other scores were scrolling at the bottom of the video board. I can see how you missed them, as they kind of blended in to the video. The stadium is beautiful after the renovations. It was really a shame to see it so empty. Those who saw it on TV can't truly appreciate how empty it really was. The side the camera was on was really sad. The donor parking lots were very empty. One of the closest lots had only a few cars in it as we walked into the stadium about an hour before kickoff.

Here's how it looked at the beginning of the 2nd half...View attachment 15520

The attendance makes me question adding TCU to the conference. Are they really big time? West Virginia is showing up!

Hindsight is 20/20 but maybe Louisville would have been a better fit...

They are here for two reasons and neither is attendance.
1) another trip to the state of Texas, which every team in the conference finds appealing for recruiting and didn't want to lose that with the loss of Tammy.
2) keep yet another conference from making any significant recruiting gains in Texas as Tammy to the SEC already opened that gate wider.

I believe we sold over 40,000 season tickets this year.

So basically the same as TCU, right? (35k includes 0 students) So I'm not understanding the attacks on our program. Obviously we have some bad fans, but considering the size of our fanbase we do quite well.

I'm not here to attack TCU's fanbase. We routinely fill our stadium with over 55,000 people so it's not quite the same.

I don't think our fans realize how good they have it. The growth of our program outpaced the growth of quality in our fans.

You people are still failing to understand that it was fall break. We also lost our QB a few days earlier and our top 2 RBs are also not playing. Countless other starters gone before the season started. Some people are just giving up. That would happen at any program.

Its butts in seats bud, sell all you want but we have been there...if it isn't full it looks small time.
He's right. Our fans actually show up. Also, our season ticket sales may be similar, but when I looked up this weekends game paid attendance it was a little over 42,000. ISU's paid attendance numbers are around 55,000 which means we are out gaining you guys by 13,000 single game tickets at our home games. And that's in a state and town way smaller than Fort Worth, TX.

It's already been stated several times in this thread. If you want to be considered "big time" you go to the game and occupy your seat. TCU had the longest winning streak in the nation. 1st home Big 12 game. Rated in Top 15. Reasonable weather (wasn't raining!!). We want to see people that are passionate about their FB team in the Big 12. Your ability to show butts in seats on TV so far this year has been pretty poor.

That said, sounds like the seats are sold for the most part so you guys need to figure out how the heck to get those people to the stadium.

That makes the terrible attendance even less excusable. If you're able to sell the ticket, why are the folks not coming to the games? Makes no sense to me. It does not look like a Big 12 stadium when it's that empty, let alone a Big 12 stadium for a Top 15 team.

Wow, stop hating on TCU so much. You act like you've been selling out Jack Trice for 25 years straight...try like 2.

No one is hating on TCU, gets thicker skin. We are trying to wrap our brains around a home conference opener of a top 15 team in their first home game in BCS bigtime college football and having an empty stadium. Trust me, we know empty stadiums, but we haven't had the success the Christians have had either or the urban population.

I think some in this thread are underestimating TCU's potential for success in this league. They played a ton of freshman and looked good at times doing it, they have a better location than tech and Baylor and have plenty of money. Attendance was disappointing but I wouldn't measure their support based on the Iowa state game after a DUI and what is considered crappy weather in the south. I hope they do stink but its unlikely with the talent I saw on the field.
