Taking a knee into halftime

I am curious how others feel about taking a knee into halftime. I understand that there is risk in throwing a long ball when the defense can see it coming but it's extremely frustrating when we are down and not taking every opportunity available. At least try a running play.... thoughts?

We had nothing to lose. We were already down. Why not go for it? At least give the guys some hope by trying to make a game out of it.

Makes me wonder if stuff like this is why the guys wanted to quit in the 3rd quarter.

No different than the punt, on 4th and 5 from their 40. It's the attitude of doing what you can to keep the score from getting out of hand, as opposed to doing what you can to win the game.

Taking a knee doesn't bother me. Punting on 4 and 5 in TCU territory was inexcusable. Hell, throw a long ball on the 4th down play and even if it's intercepted what's the harm?

If we were getting the ball after halftime, maybe okay but they were going to receive so, no, not okay.

Completely depends on the game situation. However, when you're losing, have timeouts left, and the other team gets the ball to start the second half, kneeing the ball is the wrong call.

Depends on the situation, if you are deep in your own territory then I understand it, but I've always thought it was a risk worth taking. Maybe not throw a ball deep, but at least run a play that is low risk but has a chance a guy could break it for big yards.

It's every bit as bad as the 4th down point, and the short field goal. It reeked of "hey if we just play super conservative can we agree you won't completely dismantle us, maybe keep it within 50?"

Considering how much the football gods hate ISU we were lucky that taking a knee didn't result in an ACL injury.

Take a knee.

If you want to know why re-watch the last minute of the first half of the OSU/Wisc game. Wisconsin was already getting killed and gave the ball to the RB trying to run the clock out and he fumbles and OSU returned it for a TD. Until that point Wisc. might of still had a chance but that completely killed anything they still had left in them.

I'm fine with a knee before halftime with less than a minute to go. However, I'm not fine with punting from TCU's 40 yard line while we were still in the game, with an awful punter and an even worse defense.

I was OK with the punt since it was still very early in the game and we have a solid punting unit to try and pin TCU within the 10 yard line. Not trying to run some plays going into half was much more discouraging to me.
