Tailgating???

Really? I literally just sent them an email asking them about details for lining up for G2 (student lot) and got this response:
"We will* be staging cars in lot G4 and G5.* We will move them to G2 at 5 am."
The parking division is under new management and they were all messed up for the UNI game. The guy that is "running" the show seemed to be over his head that day. I talked to him earlier this week and he has all these great ideas for parking, but I have a feeling is it going to be a deal like always where pretty much everyone parks themselves.
It might just be for the student lot since that is the one with the longest line. I'm assuming they're doing the move at 5 to avoid traffic issues on S 16th as everybody else is pulling into Ames?
This is basically exactly what they did 2 years ago, but that was an early game. Not sure how I'm going to survive 10-ish hours of tailgating..
Edit: Sorry, thought you replied to my post. I would assume the 7 am time the other poster mentioned is for all general lots. [email protected] is who I emailed for info.

Any ideas on when Haunted Forest will fill up? I have family that won't be getting there as early as they should. Just need to park - will be tailgating in G6.
Just bumping this up cause my student is in a quandary on how soon to get there for the student lot. Two years ago for UNI, he and friends got there about 6 and a half hours before game time and it was already half full before it was supposed to open. CW, can you do a journalistic effort to find out when it will really open up tomorrow?
I would suggest emailing [email protected], & ask specifically about lot G2 & how they plan on handling the line for that lot. I already posted the response I received, but I wouldn't mind having that verified by a second source! (I had a response within ~15 minutes, btw)

"We will be moving vehicles that are on the street/shoulder tonight to a staging area (Lot G4) and we will close South 16th at 5am and move those vehicles into lot G2. We will then open lot G2 and all other public lots at 7am."

Thanks for sharing. I'm assuming that means those of us that move at 5 will be good to go haha.
The line will be in the grass lots. We got in line at 1 and they are probably making us leave until 4, when they are officially opening the line I guess.
I think my son has class until 4:00 (yea he actually goes) so maybe he will be ok.
The head honcho is coming to talk to us so we are going to try to work something out that's better than just leaving and coming back at 4.
Good luck. I just want Clones in there and not Hoks. I suggested to my kid he could do homework and settle for Vet Med in the morning and he thought I was serious for a minute.
Got kicked out of line. They won't let people line up in the grass lots until "there is enough demand". Told us to park at kmart.
