Another system is going to hit Ames again this morning. Not very big but a little intense. The lots looked fine last night before the rains. My guess there will be limited parking in grass lots no RV parking.

Drove by the Haunted Forest they have cones set in areas that has standing water. The G6 lot has a lot of standing water. Hopefully it does clear off and the rain stops.
Looks like the rain has all but moved out and the drying process starts now.

Is the park across the street from the Haunted Forest private? Or can the school shut down those spots too?
Stuart Smith Park (north of G6) is a public park. The grass area NE of there (across the bridge) is private property.

ISU actually owns most of the land that makes up Brookside, and Stuart Smith. They lease it to the City of Ames (for a nominal amount).
Iowans love talking about the weather. All the Chatty Cathy in my office have discussions on every storm system. I find it odd.
To the north? That's a city park; no access for vehicles except for a tiny little 6-8 car parking lot by the playground. The lines you may see on the map are paved walking/bike trails. University was built up to form a levee, so there's a pretty steep incline from the road down into the park. You might 4-wheel it down there, but I doubt the city would let you.
It's usually just as soggy as the rest of the grassy areas since Squaw Creek runs through it.
Brookside is north of 6th street. He's talking about Stuart Smith, which is along University between Lincoln Way & South 4th.
Same in Chicago.
The weather is such an easy conversation to have with anybody and everybody is usually somewhat interested in the forecast.

I expect isolated showers and possibly a storm to sort of keep bubbling along I-80 off and on through the day, but shouldn't be a big deal.
Stronger storms will likely develop again for the evening and overnight. I expect these to lift north from I-80 and/or in from the west, possibly affecting Ames after 10 PM, though hopefully closer to midnight.

But to the second part, yes, people get too worried, too early about a lot of this.
