Tailgating in Austin

I think Al_4_State should be comp'd to the tailgate!
He has been great today on an out-there Texas discussion board called Shaggybevo.com. He has taken a few hits from them, but stayed classy and held his own all the way. It has even been informative. Read the thread on "T-sips."
I'm not sure what the first sentence meant, but I'll assume it was good. :yes:
Shaggybevo is an awesome site. Anything goes, and (almost) everything is encouraged. It's like the internet equivalent of a cage fight with brass knuckles and kicks to the nuts.
"Comp'd" means "given complimentary entrance."
Anything goes on that site, except your joke! I'm glad that some of their own called them on it.

How far is the drive from Ames?
Roughly 14-15 hours. Plan on leaving after class at nine on Friday and showing up in time to tailgate. Plan on being here, sounds like a blast.

About 15 hours, depending on how fast you drive and how frequently you have to stop, or if you have any weather get in your way.
I'm hoping to make it there by around 7 AM, hopefully there will be enough parking south of the tailgate spot as mentioned on the evite link.
Unless you have a heavy foot you're gonna be getting there right around game time...
I think we left at 7:00 four years ago and only had a few hours to spare... And trying to find somewhere to tailgate (or park for that matter) in Austin isn't easy
That said, it's a good time. If you take I-35 S, give the State of Kansas the finger for me. Expensive to drive through, toll collectors might rip you off at 3:30 in the morning, but it IS a nice road and since there are no signs of human life along the way, all the stars you'll see at night are pretty incredible
I also want to thank those involved for setting this up. My friends and I had a great time. Not sure what we would've done for tailgating had we not gone to this!!

Yeah, sorry we ran out of beer there shortly after the game but hopefully you stuck around when it got replenished. Tailgate Tom didn't believe me when I said before leaving for the game "Should we actually be leading by 4th qtr, make a beer run!! We don't want a 3rd Shreveport riot on our hands" :twitcy: His ATV runners were Horns folks apparently still in drunk shock.
Hey, my fault for thinking we'd only get maybe the 200 folks that RSVP'd the Evite. I'm told we ended up selling ~140 wristbands before the game and another ~180 after. Hopefully you braved the line for his pork loin and brisket, tho. I personally thought that was worth the $10 bones alone, no?
