Sunday morning HVAC question

We just replaced our furnace and AC, turned out the AC was a Lennox from 1973. The damn thing still worked too but it was obviously on borrowed time.

We turned on our AC for the first time yesterday and after a while it stopped pushing cold air and developed a whistling/whining sound.

Unit is original to the house and was installed in 2004 in a 1400 sq/ft house. I would really like to not come off on a new unit, but I can pretty much see the writing on the wall.

Looking at York, Lennox and Ruud providers and am planning on getting multiple quotes unless the first place has an offer that is impossible to to down. I am looking at those brands because of local availability and brand reputation within kind of a second tier price point. Weather looks okay for a few days, so this shouldn't be an absolute emergency.

Any experience with these brands or CF "professional" opinions?

TIA

We had an Amana hvac (ac + furnace) installed 2 years ago with a 10 year warranty on parts AND labor for 3k less than a Lenox. No complaints

Replaced a Goodman system that was 18 years old and still running great - we remodeled and had to move the system and wasn’t worth installing the old system.

11.8k vs 8.6k. Also keep in mind those prices also included running an all new trunk, ducts and vents. Not sure how bad the Lenox dealer wanted to mess with it lol.
