Not sure I've seen a post on him yet and I know it's just one game but I thought he did really well play calling for his first time at Isu. The offense was just in a nice rythym the entire game. Qb under cent near goal line....thank you lord...couple times on 2nd and 1 he'd call a play to go deep and take shot...I also alike the fact that if we are inside the 40yd line on 4th down we are going for it prob rest of year...should be case anyway. One adjustment I noticed was he started rolling Lanning out more to avoid Tx blitzing pressure. So overall this is how this offense should be running...Lanning makes all difference in the world for this offense. This game really could have been a much bigger blow out.

There did seem to be way more rhythm and the plays for the most part seemed to build on each other.
I like the motion and misdirection as well... Reminded me of UNLV in Vegas where they beat us in OT.

The ONLY critique I had on the offense was not calling timeout late in the 1st half and spiking the ball. They burnt a play there with 3 timeouts. Could have been 14-0 zip....which at the moment seemed like a gaffe.
Other than that, the plan was Sturdy.

The thing that I liked about the game plan was just pound the ball and keep things fairly simple. That may be the first time we haven't seen a wide receiver screen thrown 20 times a game. Not sure if it was all Sturdy but did anyone else just get the feeling that there was a completely different video from this team?
For the most part he did call a nice game. No real WTF play calls. It was nice to see WRs run in space.
I really like the WR's sitting down when Lanning scrambled. We picked up some big 1st downs that way.
One three and out the entire night (first series). What a refreshing change. Moving the ball out of our end allowed us to pin them deep on those series we did not score.

Probably should have been a few more 3 & outs, there was one drive that was basically all JL scrambling 8 yds on third down every third down.
It felt like he was calling plays that allowed the players to make the play, and then they stuck to what was working. That was a different feeling than running an option pitch in the red zone or something.
Maybe it was just because things were working but the vibe of the offense last night looked like they knew what their purpose was, and they were able to show their own strengths. It hasn't seemed to look like that for a long time.

I want Mariah Martin, recruiting coordinator, calling the plays the next game at OU. If we win that game, I want hot cheerleader to call plays next. A Team effort.
I was fortunate in that I ran into Coach Sturdy at the Gateway Express last night. Certainly had to congratulate him on the great game that we witnessed. Coach Sturdy's response was to say "Thanks", and that " the guys had really worked hard this past week and had followed through by playing hard in the game." He was pretty much all smiles.
