I have this one, too. Really nice. I think I got it for like $35 at Menards.I use this one. I don't think I paid $50 as it's advertised on amazon, but it has worked great. I like that it shows me exactly where the stud is. Also helpful if you're near a window or door and there are jack studs.
Typically garage walls, at least walls that are between house and garage, are thicker drywall. This could be the issue.I have the Zircon and it works well on inside walls. But also no luck on garage walls. Not sure if there's foil in there that kills it or what, but same deal here.
Has anyone here used the Franklin one in their garage?

Save yourself some money and get one of these. All this is, is a heavy duty magnet that finds the screw.
I’m sorry your wife cheats on you....I could see if my wife is free to check out your garage.. she obviously has a keen eye for finding studs!
Yep! I have used many different stud finders and couldn't find one that wouldn't misread where the stud was. This is almost dummy proof, cause usually if there is a screw, there is a stud. This is what I've been using lately and love it. Another benefit is you can leave it hanging on the wall and work above/below it and always have your stud marker.
